“He loved being a police officer and his police uniform,” said Khan’s teary brother-inlaw, Jawed Pervez. “He was a true jiyala of the Sindh Police.”
The Civil Lines police station SHO was one of the two policemen who lost their lives in the Lyari operation on Saturday. Having served in the police for the last 18 years, Khan was known to go after wanted criminals and gangs.
Outside his apartment on Jail Road, relatives, friends and well wishers stood in disbelief on the day of his demise. Khan, who was promoted to SHO last year, solved the Pizza Hut’s doorman murder case and was close to solving the murder case of a German organisation’s employee.
Two years ago, he served in Sudan in the United Nations peacekeeping force and was supposed to go back soon.
“He was so straightforward,so bold,” said Khan’s cousin, Khalid. “He served at nearly every police station in the city, from Darakshan to Gulshan-e- Iqbal to Saddar.”
Following his father’s footsteps, who was a high court lawyer, Khan had studied law at SM Law College. But he chose the police force over the judiciary. Khan, the eldest of six siblings, leaves behind four children.
His younger brother Sajjad, who works for the Crime Investigation Department, his wife, his sister and other family members all mourned his death but were proud of the services he rendered. “He was so brave,” said Khan’s sister-in-law.
“We were told that he was shot in the chest. For us he is a martyr.”
Khan’s namaz-e-janaza was held at the police quarters on Saturday night and on Sunday his body was taken to Peshawar for burial in the Chamkani village.

Thank you all for the wishes.
Any crtisizim of him will not be tolerated. he was my unle and a very brave man. fawad Kaka you will not be forgotten.
@Imran: Read my comment again. I am giving more respect than you. My friend died in the past in the line of duty. My point is that when some officer is dead then we asked the bereaved families and sympathize with them but whenever some soldier or ordinary policemen is dead then they are not given any importance. I am giving respect and that is why I am pointing out that the live of every Security personal is as much important as the life of an Officer. My condolences are with the SHO's family but my condolences are with those 3 Policemen families as well who were not given any importance and were not honored at all because they were ordinary policemen and our media outlets failed to shed light on their lives at all. For me the other three policemen are "Jialas of Sindh" like this Officer as we should give them honor as well.
The lyari operaiton is a mess. 24 people have lost their lives. people are forced to remain indoors. the gangs have always been there. why do we need this operation i cant understand, and when it will end. till time being, soldiers such as this sho will continue to lose lives and so will the lyari people
A Salute to the Brave SON of the Nation.
@Hasan Awan: Come on man give the police some respect !!
In any case he was a martyr and we should be proud that there were people like him in the police force and hope that there are more people inspired by him. May Allah give his family the strength to bear this loss.
Salute, to the brave son of Soil...may Allah grant you Jannah.
Pakistan ZIndabad.
I have no idea when Loss of life of every individual in Pakistan will be given equal importance. In Lyari operation more than 4 policemen died and every news outlet is talking about One individual because he was the officer. I have a question that the other three who lost their life in operation were human beings of lesser importance or we damn care about Soldiers or Policemen and we only value the life of Officers in Pakistan???.
