A family affair: Family of robbers arrested

Police said that the suspects had confessed to over a hundred robberies.

Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a family of three, including a woman, accused of theft.


The suspects were identified as Khushab residents Tanvir Abbas Awan, Ali Raza Awan and Zainab Fatima.

Their mother, Parveen Fatima, had been arrested earlier. Police are still looking for alleged ring leader Imtiaz Awan.

Police said that the suspects had confessed to over a hundred robberies.

Speaking to journalists, Headquarters SP Pervaiz Bandial said they had robbed two houses Defence, Lahore and Saddar, Rawalpindi.

He said gold jewellery worth Rs25 million had been recovered for the suspects.

He said that a police team led by CIA Inspector Mudassar Hanif had recovered 404 tolas in gold jewellery, Rs 1,757,500 in cash, a car, illegal guns and break-in tools from the suspects.

Hanif said the arrests were made after a raid in Satellite Town.

He said the family had apparently turned to robbery in 2008.

He said that the women of the family would enter a house first to assess the assets.
