Speakers at a seminar on Saturday termed that the target killings of Hazara community in Quetta a systematic way of genocide. They said the violence in Quetta has nothing to do with sectarian violence in Giligit-Baltistan and Kuram Agency. They implored all of Balochistan’s nationalities — Baloch, Pashtun, Hazara and others — to come together and prevent the province from being plunged into a mini-civil war.
Jointly organised by the National Students Federation (NSF) and Hazara Students Federation (HSF) at the National Press Club, the seminar was attended by students and progressive political activists from across the twin cities, along with Balochi students and workers in Islamabad.
Sajjad Changezi of the HSF said that the media and state authorities continue to depict the situation in Balochistan as a case of the “foreign hand”, falsely portraying the Hazara community as a proxy for the Iranian Shia regime. He said that it is misleading to depict Hazaras only as Shias without recognising that they consider themselves a separate race with distinct language, culture, and other characteristics that go beyond their religious identity.
Renowned security analyst Dr Ayesha Siddiqa said, “The situation in Balochistan reflects the establishment’s unwillingness to allow a substantive political process to take root which empowers all of Balochistan’s ethnic communities.” She said that over the years, the volume of funds provided for strengthening religious seminaries in Balochistan is higher than the education budget of the provinces. “The province is infested with intelligence operatives from all of the country’s agencies,” she said.
Later, the participants also record a brief protest outside of the press club, holding banners and placards condemned the killing of the Hazara community.

Too bad to see people here terribly ignorant of the real situation. This isn't a secterian killing fighting against EACHOTHER, it is one terrorist group (that btw take the responsibilty of their doing) that is killing another minority group that doesn't have the same resources or intentions to give back in the same way (killing and terrorising). The Provencial government has shown its ignorance and incompetence of sitting and governing a province as big and as divers as Balochistan.
It is not BALOCHI...It is BALOCH
This country is poisoned by the Saudi version of Islam supported by US dollars. The unity between shia ans sunni sects and a campaign to protect minorities and each others together, is the only thing that can save Pakistan.
Hazaras lived Pakistan and India before the independence of Pakistan and if Hazaras are not genuine Pakistani then no one is in Pakistan. Its the duty of every Pakistanis duty to protect each other...If you do not care about the Hazaras today, no one care for you tomorrow.
Is it not strange that Pakisthan rushes to Iran for several types of help including the Supply of Gas through Pipeline and at the same time targets Hazaras who are Shias. The fact that Iran is trying to help Pakisthan inspite of its attitude towards Shia Minority in the Country and following the WAHABI concept. This itself is proof that IRAN by and large may be treating this issue as Pakisthan's internal matter and not payint it any attention..
@Zabandraz
do we really need to research to find out / guess who is behind this killings???
No research is required. Those behind the killings issue statements claiming their deeds. And they are here in Pakistan not far away in Iraq or US.Does the name Jhang ring any (alarm) bells?
The Ulemas of Sunni and shia should and must compaign and endeavour to stop the killings. The misguided may have second thought as at the moment Tullas not Mullas are misguiding the youth
@umar Didnt get your point bro, why should the minorities not have NID cards?
Nadra is resposible which issued countless pakistan Identity cards to a minortity.
@nazarrabi: What about Pashtuns killing Pashtuns, or that does not count! and are you implying that Pashtuns are responsible for Hazara killings!
how many pashtuns was killed by pakistan iran arabs and they west for the lost 23 years
A campaign of Systematic Destruction of this unique Ethnic group since the last 8-10 years. The SSP and LeJ send their best new prospects to Quetta to cut their teeth on innocnet "Hazara" flesh. The modus operandi has changed though; moving away from attacking large religious processions with automatic weapons and grenades and towards mostly taking out targets of opportunity with 9mm sidearms extremely close range. Thats is why hardly anyone survives as most people sustain gunshots to the head and neck.
