Law enforcement agencies have been directed to arrest these men alive or dead.
Additionally the Sindh Home Ministry has directed that departments of Operation and Investigation of the Central Investigation Department, will now report to the CID Anit-Extremism Cell, headed by SSP CID Aslam Chaudhry.
Earlier in the day Station House Officer (SHO) Civil Lines Fawad was killed along with another policeman during an exchange of fire in the Lyari area of Karachi on Saturday, reported Express News. At least ten people, including a suspect, were also killed while two others were injured during the course of the day as police combated criminals in Lyari on Saturday.
Miscreants also set a passenger bus on fire in the Baghdadi area during an ongoing targeted operation.
Malir City, Shah Latif Town and Memon Goth police contingents involved in conducting the targeted operation in Lyari faced extreme resistance in the Afshani Gali area by miscreants which resulted in crossfire, killing one policeman and one suspect and injuring two others during early hours on Saturday.
“During the shootout this morning, the miscreant killed is suspected to be Mullah Nisar’s brother but this is not confirmed yet,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Crime Investigation Department (CID) Chaudhry Aslam Khan told Express News.
He said that the most affected area right now was Afshani Gali, which the police were trying to clear. “If not today, hopefully in a couple of days the affected areas will be completely rid of terrorists,” he said.
SSP CID said that 20 suspects were arrested yesterday and a huge cache of weapons was recovered as well, adding that the CID will hold a press conference soon to disclose details.
Additional IG Karachi Akhtar Hussain Gorchani, in an interview to Express News, said that more than 18 suspects of the Lyari Gangwar were apprehended during today's operation, and they include some most-wanted criminals.
Civilians going to work were not being stopped by police but most people were afraid to leave their houses in fear of getting caught in the crossfire.
Earlier, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA Nabil Gabol had escaped unhurt when miscreants attacked his car with a hand grenade in Lyari.

I would really like to hear the 'so called' miscreants' part of the story.
Hahaha this is funny. Uzair Jan Baloch & Habiab Jan etc announced to join PMLN with Ghous Ali Shah's visit there 3 days ago. Arrest warrants issued from all of them. PPP victimisation at its peak, no matter what the justification.
I wonder why the operation is always conducted in Lyari. The main areas of 'BHATTA KHORE" & "DADAGIRS" & Criminals are not touched and poor Baloch of Lyari are targetted by the state forces. Only the other day the most respectable & neutral persons of Karachi, like Abdul Sattar Eidhi & others, carried out "Peace March" demanding immediate end of 'Lyari Operation'. It seems Lyari has been given 'blood-bath' and poor people of this slum are being killed unjustly. The lopsided or one-sided actions wiill never result in peace in Karachi. It is very unfortunate that only sons of the soil are under the target of the State forces and real criminals are safe & sound. For God's sake, stop this blood-bath in Lyari.
Stop the security forces brutality in lyari. There are many video's in YouTube where security forces are systematically destroying some specific communities. If ou don't stop this, soon Pakistan will break into 4 countries.
In all that "bughze-e-mqm", many self righteous analysts (read idiots) showered that crook zulfiqar mirza with praises and title of "lion of karachi" without even knowing what that gangster was capable of doing. Just because he could spit venom against MQM, he was considered a saviour. Now that his gangs of liyari are fully exposed and his 0.3 million issued arms licences are being put to use against our very own Sind police, its about time his admirers get some sense and witness the mess he created in Liyari ....
FACT...Our law enforcement agencies need more professional training... By looking at pictures they seem so unprofessional ..even the way they are exposed to the criminals guns sight and even how they are poised and even holding guns in an totally amateur way !!!! No wonder these agencies loose so many precious life in any operation against criminals and terrorists... They need to be BETTER TRAINED & EQUIPPED than the CRIMINALS & TERRORISTS !!!!!!!!!
Is Lyari the ONLY area in Karachi where there are criminals? Why always an operation ONLY in Lyari? Is the the ONLY way the government shows neutrality? THIS MUST STOP!
@Khalid Pathan: It is this PPP govt that is conducting this operations. Lets hope they conduct one in Katti pahari too where most mafia people are hiding along with all the "units" of certain party.
Completely agree with Discostu. The law needs to be enforced the the ones doing a good job need to be appreciated, especially when they're actively being targetted and bombed and STILL going ahead with their job.
@Kanwal: that's just a really biased, irrational statement that has no grounding except the possibility that someone saying terrorism is a problem doesn't sound right to you.
@Pakboy: one-way against poor civilians?? First off, it's clearly not ONE-WAY if both sides are actively battling...also, technically the police are the ones a little under equipped when going up against grenades and sophisticated rifles. Secondly, the people fighting against the enforcement of common, basic laws are not representative of the poor civilians of this city. Technically, they should be called militants/terrorist/combatants or something considering what they're up to. At the very least they're anything but peaceful and given the cost of rifles and ammunition, I'm sceptical about how poor they are too!
ch. aslam and other law enforcment agencies taking part in lyari operation,,,,,zindabad
thanks to zulfiqar mirza , during his tenure he gave 300000 automatic weapon licences to the thugs of amn community. now nabeel gabol and other sane ppp members realizes how bad was the decision of arming amn community with unpresidented level.
May their souls rest in peace......who sacrificed their today for our tomorrow.....Amen
Are they more stronger than police/Army?
@kanwal: Ch. Aslam is a star. He is probably one of the few reasons Karachi has been spared from terrorism of the islamic kind. These are the freaks who bombed his house. This man is putting his life in danger to protect ungrateful people like you. And he deals with all criminals equally, no matter which party they are protected by, he still gets them. And that consistency is something the police force needs. And before anyone starts to protest and say the people of Lyari are peaceful, let me end this argument with, peaceful citizens do not carry grenades and rocket launchers (I want to make clear that I am only referring to the criminal element, NOT all the residents of Lyari).
Next stop: Al-Asif Square...
Totaly one-way operation against the poor civilians of this city
I completely distrust this Ch. aslam. Anything he says just does nt sound rite
stop publishing karachi mass murder and publish kashmir stone throw news with color photos
