LAHORE:

Additional Inspector General Aslam Tareen on Friday officially assumed charge as the capital city police officer (CCPO).

Tareeen had been given additional charge as CCPO on March 21 after the former CCPO Ahmad Raza Tahir was told to report to S&GAD.  Tareen had been additional IG (Investigation), a charge he relinquished on Friday.

Seven other police officers were also transferred by Inspector General of Punjab Police Muhammad Habibur Rehman.

Those who were transferred are Raja Basharat Mehmood, Muhammad Umer Virk, Muhammad Anwer Khetran, Syed Muhammad Amin, Mustafa Hameed Malik, Usman Akram Gondal, and Rana Shahid Pervaiz.

No one was appointed DIG (Operations), a post that fell vacant earlier this week when Ghulam Mehmood Dogar was made an OSD.
Officials claim that DIG Ali Amir Malik, SSP Mirza Shakeel and SSP Rai Tahir have been interviewed by the IGP for the post.
