FAISALABAD:

Jhang Bazaar police claimed on Thursday to have killed a robber in a shoot out while an accomplice managed to escape.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, SHO Farrukh Waheed said that two armed men had entered the house of Malik Bashir Ahmad in Shadab Colony and tried to hold up the family.

He said that the family raised alarm and some neighbours gathered around the home. The men tried to escape, shooting in the air to scare them away but people continued to follow them.

One of the men took shelter in Ramazan’s house near Keekar Chowk in Shadab Colony.

Sajjad, a resident of the area, called police, who sent a team led by ASI Saeed Ahmad and Jhang Bazaar SHO Farrukh Waheed to the house. Police asked the man to surrender but he instead shot at police. Police then returned the fire and hit him.

He was taken to Allied Hospital where he passed away. Police claimed that they had recovered a pistol (0.30 bore), two magazines, two bullets and eight covers of used cartridges from him.
