General (r) Javed appointed Pakistan Steel Mills CEO
Sources familiar with the matter said that the Ministry of Industries and Production had already issued an official notification regarding Javed’s appointment. He will replace acting CEO Wasif Mahmood with effect from Thursday.
Javed had previously served as chairman at Pakistan Steel Mills from September 2006 to May 2008, sources said.
Sources said that the production graph had been up during Javed’s tenure, adding that his appointment was seen positively by the staff of the state-owned industrial complex.

To understand why he was asked to leave, was it because of corruption or something else, we need to look at the facts and the context surrounding his departure in 2008.
who came in the power at that time Mr Zardari and team (completely honest and corruption eliminators??)
steel mill was running in deficit with 20% working capacity?
Why the MINISTER visited the PSM before CEO agreed to leave and Appointment of some1 who was even unable to leave his office without security
AND last of all 'he has been reappointed'
Lets first get our facts right and then slag people. we need to get out of the culture of research-less slagging and blaming.

Please consider tenures of three heads of Pakistan Steel Wherein the Organization went into Profit.These were the tenures of Col Afzal,Lt Gen Abdul Qayyum and Maj Gen Muhammad Javed HI(M),hence i suggest we should not discard an individul because he has been a General Officer.Armed Forces Personnel join the Ranks with pledge to lay down their lives for the Country,may it be Siachen,Swat ops North Waziristan,Eastern Border or Natural calamities Forces have always been sacrificing for the National Cause.Acts of few individuals should not be used to smear the whole organization.
General javed raised the profit of steel mill.but due to corruption he was asked to leave.His one honesr employee Major Qamar Rizvi worked hard to put steel mill in to a condition which one could dream of.Hopefully these people will come again n will take the org to once again where it was,.Ameen
some people have good experiences and exposures in life which lead them to better judgments and then decisions. Gen. Javed is one of them. He can lift the elephant up with his tongue govt. truly support him.
Our Ex-PAF Chief was re-employed as PIA head. Our ex-defence secretary (now sacked) also got prized post after retirement. These Pak army generals dont beleive in "retirement". They want to realize us that they are indispensable to the nation.

It is amazing that all our generals who couldn't find Osama, who couldn't prevent the May 2 raid, who rail about drone strikes to the public and pander to the US in private, who couldn't protect GHQ or PNS Mehran, who couldn't prevent Salala or the Gyari tragedy think they are the most competent to run public sector enterprises. Of course, their actual professional capability is evidenced by the fact that none of them have ever found a post-retirement leadership role in a private sector company based on merit. But then there's little else we can expect from officers who spend their careers angling for DHA plots and running bakeries and shaadi halls from cantonment properties.
When will our country learn that the army's place is the barracks and not any other institution. Certainly NOT the entire country as many generals have felt the urge to do so. The man hired to guard the house, has taken over as its owner. Sad day indeed.

All generals have carte Blanche to suck this country till they die. First in the army by making plots and doing diddly squat. Then in state corporations where nobody will hold them accountable and they won't have to work much, RETIRE!!
The General has an up-hill task. He is taking over an organisation that has been abused, looted and raped. If he turns things around, he deserves more than just praise.
@Ahmad, Yes, I am with you friend, I find this concept really amusing. Also no where in the world have I come across this concept where the retired or about to retire generals being made governors of provinces or ambassadors to other countries or chairmen of different corporations (like the above case). If this being the case what is the purpose of having politicians, career diplomats or trained economists. If none of the above, they would happily migrate to the west, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and and enjoy the (ill) gotten wealth. Sounds harsh, but how true. Rgds

Gen(r) Javed has been the head of POF Wah while he was serving. He was a good and honest person. Also he does some poetry as well.

Are Pakistani Generals familiar with this word "Retirement"? perhaps excluded from the dictionary used in PMA Kakul, but those who are reading this comment and i read this word a lot in newspapers and here and there. They can't run what (Pak Mil) they trained for, how they are going to run what they are not trained for.

In principle, a good point. But if does have previous experience and if the appointment is well-received by the company, that is a good thinsg.
I wish those retired generals can truly retire, go home, and allow some well-qualified professionals to take the responsibilities..
We hope Javed will run this elephant in right direction.
