Inspection of buses needed

Letter April 24, 2012
CNG kits are very dangerous and are like ticking time bombs.

KARACHI: In the aftermath of the Bhoja Air crash, aviation authorities will be inspecting all passenger aircrafts operated by private airlines. This is nothing new in Pakistan, as whenever a tragic incident takes place here, the authorities concerned immediately announce an ‘inspection’ of the incident.

If the authorities are really serious about preventing accidents, they should also be carrying out an inspection of the public transport buses in Karachi, many of which have been installed with CNG kits but are still charging fares at diesel prices. These CNG kits are very dangerous and are like ticking time bombs.

The relevant authorities must look into this matter — before another tragedy takes place — and should order an examination of all buses which have installed CNG kits.
