Bhoja crash: ‘Investigations may take up to 9 months’
Islam said that the debris of the plane will be reassembled, while the data recorder will be examined with the help of a US team.
Sources told Express News on Tuesday that some officials of Capital Development Authority (CDA) were also included in the investigation of the air crash.
Some CDA officials had allegedly kept the aircraft’s voice recorder and data recorder in their custody for 45 hours.
The passenger flight travelling from Karachi to Islamabad carrying 121 passengers and six crew members came hurtling down towards the outskirts of Rawalpindi at 6:46pm on Friday evening.
Among the passengers were five infants and six children. There were no survivors.
A judicial commission was formed by the government to investigate into the incident.

@Nawab: This is not a joking matter please remember the loss of life that has occurred . There maybe design or systemic flaws which need to be removed at the earliest considering that there may be other planes which may have similar flaws and are putting the lives of their passengers at risk. In view of the risks involved 9 months is too slow.
@Abbas: My dear Abbas what you are not getting is the cause for our concern . The plane has crashed and there have to be lacunae in either the design, maintenance etc of the plane. Is it acceptable to us that the fault/ lacunae are acted upon 9 months from now and in the meantime planes with similar faults are allowed to put the lives of passengers at risk?

I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the families and friends of those whose lives this tragic accident claimed. May Allah (S) forgive their sins and grant them Jannat-al-Firdaus. Ameen. I personally believe that nine months is a reasonable time for an aircraft investigation especially if as abbas said, the airplane is going to be reconstructed. So, let's all be patient and continue making duas and inshallah, we will find the information we are looking for.
@jagjit sidhoo: Well they are not trying to play kabadi where the whole game is over in 90 minutes. This is a serious plane crash investigation that will have far reaching consequences.
@Abbas: There was another news story about Shaheen flight NL-122 from Islamabad to Karachi (Boeing 737-400 AP-BJN) on Apr 22. Local news reported only a "tyre burst". However, I scanned some aviation websites and apparently, the left main strut failed during landing, damaging the wing and also the part of the airframe where the wing connects to it. I am not an expert but from what I read it appears that mechanical failure and corrosion could be among the factors. Anyway, it seems that the damage was more than what the airline reported to the press and the air worthiness of the plane might be questionable (write-off). I am afraid the airline (with CAA connivance, negligence or incompetence) might try to avoid writing the plane off even if it is not airworthy. We just lost 127 people and cannot be over cautious about air safety. Did you happen to come across this? What is your opinion? Thanks.
Take 19 months instead of 9 months. But, kindly come up with the names of real culprits...... which never happened in the history of Pakistan...
It will take 9 months since they want to deliver something.
You don't understand the amount of detail these kind of reports cover. No air crash investigation has been completed in less than 6 months, as far as I am aware. Speedy justice is not always accurate justice. As long as the investigation is done within a reasonable time frame i.e. maximum of 18 months, we should not complain.
@Abbas: Expert or no expert 9 months is just tooooo much time
When you are not an expert, don't bother commenting on something. I am a professional air crash investigator with FAA. On average, it takes more than a year to investigate an air crash and produce a final report, specially when the plane is going to be reconstructed. It's a serious matter, and it is done in a meticulous way.

According to ICAO rules/guidelines, a Preliminary Report should be completed in three months. The Final Report can take up to a year. It is pretty exhaustive work but the "black boxes" will be of great help -- as always.
I hope they are NOT moving the wreckage without accident investigators mapping every piece. Wreckage should not be moved since it contains important clues of point of impact and subsequent break-up of the aircraft.
9 months is not required to investigate it is required to cover up and hope that people will forget about this issue
Why would it take 9 months? So, that we can witness another plane crash in that time period and forget about this one?
