PESHAWAR: A Karachi-bound Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight departed an hour early from Bacha Khan International Airport in Peshawar, leaving many passengers behind.
Flight PK-351 was scheduled to depart Peshawar for Karachi at 8:30am, but left the airport one hour ahead of time.
Speaking to The Express Tribune on the condition of anonymity, a PIA official said that they did not know the exact cause of the ‘ahead of scheduled time’ departure, but some passengers who had been left behind had complained to them and the matter was being investigated.
PIA Station Manager Ehsanullah said, “This flight which was scheduled for 7:30am, the schedule was given by PIA Karachi.”
Passengers said the delay in flights was a routine matter and the delay had caused them “fatigue of mind”, and business losses due to loss of time.

@gp65: I think you have never been on an airline and especially PIA, they always overbook by 5% to 10% to cover for no shows and last minute releases by travel agents.
The thought clock has gone 1 hour ahead due to daylight saving!
I am reminded of a joke that a boss was taking one of his employ to task for coming one hour late every day however the employ asked his boss to keep cool and told him that he also goes back home one hour early too. You can expect such a reply from the airlines as well.
The flight was going to Peshwar. It was not an hour early, it was a day late.. :P

If someone has a confirmed booking, you cannot check in someone else instead. People who were left behind would have been entitled to fly.

This is NOT good news. This is bad for the passengers who missed the flight because they arrived in time for the 7:30 departure. It also reflects poorly on the airline that no-one realized the error.
Wow, given the propensity of the government to spin tales on its efficiency, its a wonder the PIA plane didnt head for the moon.

I was one of the passengers on the flight in question. Luckily, I had called the PIA reservation team by chance some days back where I was informed that my flight had been preponed. The ticket said 8:30 whereas the flight had been rescheduled for 7:30 AM.

Great initiative taken by the PIA. Now, people should quit complaining about delayed flights.
Why is PIA mismanaged? Unavoidable delay is understandable. But departure an hour ahead of schedule is unacceptable. Nevertheless, it happened to me once at Islamabad and PIA caused me to be stranded for a few hours at the airport. Earlier than scheduled departures do not happen in advanced countries. We are mimicking the West as regards culture and personal and sexual mores but are unable to be disciplined and efficient like them.
