Contrasting fortunes for Pakistan cueists

KARACHI: Pakistan cueists Mohammad Asif and Sultan Mohammad experienced contrasting fortunes on the second day of the 28th Asian Snooker Championship underway in Doha after getting the tournament underway with impressive victories.

According to information provided by the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association, Sultan registered his second successive win, while Asif suffered his first defeat. Sultan, who outclassed a Sri Lankan opponent in his first match, continued his good form to overcome Malik Jadullah of Palestine 4-2.

Meanwhile, Asif went down to India cueist Aditya Mehta 4-2. After losing the first frame 77-37, Asif hit back 68-41 in the second before clinching the next 74-5. However, that was Asif’s last success as Mehta hit a break of 87 in the fourth frame and followed up with a 68 in the fifth. He won the sixth frame 78-47 to seal his win.
