LAHORE: DCO Noorul Ameen Mengal made surprise visits to Tajpura and Saddar Sunday Bazaars to check the prices of vegetables, fruits and other commodities. The DCO took notice of inappropriate arrangements and sale of substandard fruits and vegetables. He announced cash awards for vendors who sell quality items at low prices, adding that a three-member committee had been constituted which would select the best stalls. He asked shoppers about the standard and prices of commodities. Mengal said that substandard food would not be allowed to be sold. He warned shopkeepers that stern legal action would be taken for violation of rules.
