Posted out: Tareen given addt’l charge as CCPO
Additional IG (Investigation) Aslam Tareen on Friday was given the additional charge as CCPO, after DIG Ahmad Raza Tahir was told to report to the S&GAD.
Well-placed sources have revealed that former CCPO Tahir had been trying to get posted out for several weeks now. Senior police officers told The Express Tribune that Tahir was “not comfortable” dealing with courts, an issue that they said he had discussed with his seniors.
In 2010, the then LHC Chief Justice Khawaja Sharif had taken suo motu notice of Ahmad Raza Tahir’s appointment as Lahore CCPO and directed the Punjab government to immediately withdraw the notification. Tahir was then posted as the Gujranwala RPO. He was appointed as the Lahore CCPO again in May,2011.
Sources say that RPO Gujrawala Captain Amin is likely to succeed Tahir.
