QUETTA: Criticising the ruling politicians of the country during a rally in Quetta, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said that the leaders of the country are afraid of the very people who elected them.

“While I was on my way to the rally, I saw the Governor House and its high boundary walls protected with barbed wires. These people residing in governor houses, prime minister houses, chief minister and president houses, why are they afraid of the Pakistani people? They are your leaders and they are afraid of you!” exclaimed Khan.

He added that when his party comes into the power, the first thing they will do is bulldoze these houses and build educational institutes and libraries.

Balochistan received Rs110 billion in the NFC award, but where has that money gone, he further questioned. “If the money was spent here, then Balochistan youth would have received free education and jobs too.”

“For as long as corrupt politicians rule you, they will keep usurping your money,” said Khan criticising the ruling politicians of the country. “The resources that God has bestowed Balochistan with, if they are used on the people of the province, then Balochistan will become most prosperous not only in Pakistan but in the entire region.”

The party leader further said that people had tried to stop the party from rallying in Quetta because of violence but he has come ‘to break the chains of violence’.

“The tsunami has reached you.”

Earlier speaking to the media prior to the rally, Khan held high hopes with his rally despite the continual rainfalls in different parts of the province.

Khan said that during the rally, the PTI leadership will explain “how to normalise the situation in Balochistan”.

When asked about the unpredictable downpour, an enthusiastic Khan said that the leadership will “thank Allah for the rainfall”.

“We will, for sure, get drenched and will do that in front of the rally.”

Khan said that he was happy that the people of Balochistan were planning on taking part in the rally and that “no other political party had dared to gather such a crowd.”

“We have spoken about the issue of missing persons and will continue to do so,” Khan said while claiming that the first ever demonstration for missing persons was held by PTI.

Party flags and pictures of Khan were displayed across Quetta. At least 5,000 chairs were set up at the venue.

The rally was scheduled to begin at 2:30pm, however the preparations were halted due to the rainfall.

The PTI leadership had claimed that this rally will be the biggest ever to happen in Balochistan.

About 800 personnel of law enforcement agencies were deployed at and around Ayub Stadium to guard the public gathering.

According to official sources, over 800 personnel of Balochistan Constabulary and Frontier Corps were assigned duties for conducting the PTI public meeting.

“Police personnel in plain clothes are keeping an eye on all entry points and checking thoroughly all those who enter the stadium,” sources had said adding that walk-through gates were also installed to ensure full security to the public.

For the past few months, the party’s leadership has been engaged in and around Quetta trying their utmost to attract the Nawabs, Sardars, nationalists and religious leaders in preparation for their gathering in the city.

PTI only succeeded in mustering former Capital City Police officer Humayun Jogezai and a few tribal elders from Kuchlak, near Quetta, from Balochistan.

Do the people of Pakistan have to always rely on hope? I do not doubt Imran Khan, he has been a straight forward person all his life, he even left his children for the sake of the nation, and realistically my vote goes to him only, but the question remains!!! If Imran Khan could not achieve what is expected from him, what will happen to us all? Who will we opt for next? Will the People of Pakistan and the nation survive for the next election??? These are the questions running in my mind and if I get the answers to this questions then not only me but I can assure Imran Khan that my whole tribe votes for him.

I don’t know what will be the future of Pakistan when the persons aren’t doing what they are supposed to do and in which they have the comparative advantage. A person who is a cricketer not necessarily be a politician or a person who is a business analyst neither be a cricketer. If they are so they aren’t that good. Don’t think anyone as an angel, well everyone will be watching the election results in the next year, definitely one of the two big parties will be making coalition government. As far as i understand, only PTI’s opponents who had written him off ages ago as a potential political rival, were disappointed. PTI’s Karachi’s jalsa was an eye opener for the die-hard fans of the MQM too, whom i have witnessed converting their loyalties for PTI, as she represents change, equality, humility & much more….

btw how many ministers’s names do you remember when MA Jinnah was leading the nation?

its the leader who leads the nation and its whom people gather around & cherish, not the ministers… example is PPP, who only talks about ZAB & BB as their leader and continue their politics in their names….

Have you even listened to him ? He didn’t blame “everything” on NS, but said that when Nawaz Sharif and PML-N, despite belonging (like PTI) to All Parties Democratic Movement, contest the elections, even if APDM itself refused the legitimize of these same elections under Pervez Musharraf, the Baloch nationalists present in APDM saw Nawaz Sharif and PML-N – a national party – literally betraying them, and they logically went out off the mainstream politics since then and until now.

Imran Khan just asked one thing from PML-N and other parties: A debate to address all the serious issues and their possible solutions. Is Mian Sahib ready to take the centre stage or will he be sitting in his Raiwind Recommend

    @ch. allah dad…

oh man..i was wondering where have you gone..i think you just got your check of pay-per-comment :)

well IK is in opposition and so making statement but NS and SS are in govt so why are they making statement and strikes in lahore? amazing leaders of yours… buy the whole all the tv all the corrupt politicians and patwaris and thanedars…but nothing can stop the people of pakistan from electing their true representatives… btw why dont you give statment from your real id? (ch.nisar) ..? shuja pasha has retired…and now who is sending the people to a certain party? infact whole organizaiton of Q league and SNF merging in a certain party? another IJI and mehrangate in the making?

@Mirza… your comments at zemtv website are real shame… but we expect nothing less from jiyalas…afterall being illiterate is the only criteria for being a jiyala…
IK does not attack NS or PPP personally…he is only saying prove you wealth which is very much beyond your known sources of income…why hiding behind immunity? just say the 60million dollars in swiss bank or not zardaris and everybody will be satisfied..but in the last 4 years, nobody has denied it… IK exert such influence on NS and Zardari that zardari visited lahore after 2years otherwise he wouldnt dare to come out of his presidential bunker..while NS went straight to skardu fearing IK would go there first… imagine if IK can have so much influence on these looters, what will be their condition when IK comes into power!

Nothing can stop Tsunami. Tsunami always carry everything with it. There were 1,30,000 + people. That’s the big success of PTI. No other political party have guts to organize jalsa in Quetta. And chanting slogans of “PAKISTAN ZINDABAD” clearly reflects that Baloch’s are with Pakistan. That was a success of Pakistan too.

“your leaders are afraid of you”

Is that not a healthy attitude in a democracy?
Does Imran Khan want the people to be afraid of leaders like it was under Zia? He appears to have dictatorial tendencies but whatever his tendencies may be, in Pakistan army is king.

That Tsunami crap eats at me. It’s like a contradiction every time. Tsunamis are natural disasters and only brings “change” in negative ways. Also yeah, I’m sure those leaders are afraid. The ones in office are always the targets. Not powerless politicians such as Imran Khan.
If he gets elected it’s not out of the question he’d end up in the same position. The only difference would probably be who is doing it.

“QUETTA: Criticising the ruling politicians of the country during a rally in Quetta, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said that the leaders of the country are afraid of the very people who elected them”
Yes you are right on your this stance because our leaders don’t afraid of the nation only before being elected and after being elected leaders they need fool-proof and the most tightest security blanket for tours only for within Pakistan or may be on India’s tour but our leaders are treated in European and Western countries they are treated like a common/ordinary leaders and they are not provided/given fool-proof and the most tightest security blanket for the visits like Pakistan because always the corrupt/looters leaders are afraid of the nation not the sincere, honest and loyal leaders.

I think with this big successful rally in Quetta Balochistan, Imran khan has asserted himslef as the only national leader popular in all parts of the country , I am sure Nawaz sharif or PPP cannot hold such rallies in Balochistan or KPK. So it seems like the verdict has come , Imran khan should be voluntarily given the power in the best interest of the country as he enjoys political support from every inch of the country.

I watched Imran Khan’s interview on BBC Asia talk show a few months back. He sounded hollow and with no substance at all. He was not offering any solution for issues. He was just giving general well meaning sound bites which maybe he thinks people want to hear. He sounded like a man with no intrinsic values. But he still built a cancer hospital for his fellow citizens. So maybe he has something of value to offer but it is not coming across right. Time will tell. It looks like he has “institutional” support so he will win. He had no clear road map on any issue, from economy to terrorism we are unable to trace out any solid policy by Immi Khan. He is building castles in air, practical things are far different. It is not time to offer mere lip service but to take practical steps.

Imran Khan has no program, no planning and no team to implement his ideas. People should really stop pretending sit-ins accomplish anything. Not even mass murder gets a reaction. Why would some people sitting around? I’m not knocking the concept of peaceful protest; however, that time could probably be used better. That doesn’t mean it can’t be used for something else to further the cause, though. I am skeptical of his game plan’s development. These statements appear to have the goal of putting some form of pressure on a group. But, nothing is said that would actually cause that intended pressure. Like even a vague reference to an aspect of his plan, I’ll probably get jumped for saying it but, at the moment, he is doing nothing different than PML-N. A lot of talk about a goal while forgetting that the plans they don’t speak of are what separates those who can do it and those who just run at the mouth. There is no reason given that they are anymore capable than a mental patient on a street corner preaching revolution and offering piggy back rides in exchange for hugs.

To all those who say Imran has no vision, no plan and no program. PTI is unrolling its plans and defining policies; please check some previous article on ET and you will know better about recent plans about energy crises and local governance. IK has sincerity and he has proved himself in other discipline. And above all, other party leaders are hollow with previous experience of treachery and fraud. We will not repeat the sin of bring them back. Pakistan Zindabad.

I just want to say that its 7 months of uprising and apart from these parties what a solid measure he has taken. When IK sb is asked he has only one answer its duty of PMLN. And we r here to enjoy. Just give us govt and then see. Sir why u all parties r behind power. At one point u said that if u do something its civil disobedience and next thing u say if u will not hv enough no. of seats than u will do this. Sir plz don’t confuse us. If PTI want to change than do it right now. As I know the 2nd or 3rd tier from my locality they r the same faces as the other two parties hv. What’s the change? Its only u. Sir we hv to think while claiming. May ALLAH show us. Right path.Ameen
