The members of the All Pakistan Oil Tankers Owners Association held a protest against the recent price hike at Bilawal Chowrangi on Thursday.
The protesters gathered near the roundabout at 1pm and blocked the road for four hours. They held placards and shouted slogans against the federal minister for petroleum and natural resources. The association’s spokesperson Israr Ahmed Shinwari said that the minister should apologise for suggesting that the tankers were used to smuggle drugs. He added that the minister should provide evidence or resign. The protesters gave the government a 24-hour deadline to agree to their demands or be prepared to face the consequences.
