ABBOTABAD:

As the government and opposition wrestle over the Domestic Violence Bill, two more women fell prey to the injustice in the past two days, killed by their relatives in Hazara division.

The first incident was reported from Lora area of Abbottabad district, where Arshad allegedly axed his wife Tahzeem Bibi, to death for unknown reasons.

According to the police, the couple, who had five children, had a strained relationship.

On Tuesday evening, Arshad attacked Tahzeem, 31, with an axe and critically injured her. She was taken to Abbottabad District Headquarters Hospital, where she died of her injuries, while Arshad managed to escape.

In the second incident, Fauzia Bibi of Lunda Morbafa village of Mansehra was allegedly killed by her own brother over a minor dispute.

Fauzia was married to Zaheer Ahmed a few months back but had been living with her parents after developing differences with her in-laws.

On Wednesday, her brother Naveed Khan asked her to go back to her place. When she refused, Naveed became furious and fired at her with a pistol.
