LAHORE: A consumer court on Tuesday disposed of a suit after a compromise was reached between the two parties on a petition regarding the sale of a defective mobile phone. Petitioner Abdul Majeed said he had purchased a mobile phone from Ali Ahmed, the owner of a mobile phone shop for Rs2,500. He said he was given a one-year warranty. When the mobile phone stopped working within a day and he asked Ahmed to replace it, he refused. The petitioner asked the court to direct the respondent to replace the phone or refund the amount. The court issued notices to the respondent but he did not appear in court. It was only when the court issued a bailable arrest warrant that Ahmed appeared in court and agreed to replace the mobile phone.
