Awareness campaign: K-P highlights significance of relics

A guided tour to the Buddhist-era remains of Takht Bhai and Jamal Garhi, Mardan district, marked the campaign

The Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) has launched an awareness campaign to highlight the significance of relics and dated buildings in the province.


A guided tour led by Peshawar Museum Curator Nidaullah Sehrai to the Buddhist-era remains of Takht Bhai and Jamal Garhi, Mardan district, marked the launch of the campaign on Tuesday. The touring group comprised of senior citizens, students, media persons and members of civil society.

K-P Archaeology and Museums Director Dr Shah Nazar Khan briefed the group on about the objectives of the tour, while curator Sehrai highlighted the importance of the remains of Gandhara civilisation. She said that several new remains have also been discovered at the two sites following excavations.

Taking keen interest in relics of the Gandhara civilisation, the group
appreciated the Directorate of Archaeology and Museums for initiating the campaign.
