Fiza Gilani announces revised wedlock policy

ISLAMABAD: Goodwill Ambassador for Women Empowerment Fiza Batool Gilani announced on Tuesday the revised wedlock policy in Islamabad, under which the federal government employees and their spouses can remain posted at one station for an indefinite period of time.

Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani had earlier given formal approval to the revised version of the policy.

It is important to mention here that according to the previous wedlock policy, the period of posting at one station was specified and one of the spouses had to return to his/her original place of posting.

“The amendment in the wedlock policy was introduced to save families from economic and social difficulties and is a fulfilment of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s vision,” said Fiza while addressing the participants of the ceremony held for the announcement of the revised wedlock policy.

Fiza said that policies are formulated for the benefit of the people and sometimes “it becomes inevitable to change them as per the demands of changing times and wishes of the people”.

The Goodwill Ambassador also requested the provinces to bring in line their respective wedlock policies with the federal government’s revised version, to save families from divisions and economic and social travails.

Pass the domestic violence law . This providing comfort to beauracrats has no affect on the lives of the average pakistani woman.

To the Pakistani women laws which will help to protect them from abusive husbands are much needed . The religious fascists who declared wife beating as a religious right and prevented this bill from passing are very much happy to see that the govt. surrendered before their pressure tactics.
