Apns Meeting: Implement Wage Board Award, says Zardari

Assures his full support and assistance to the APNS.

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has urged the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) to look into the issue of payment of salaries of journalists besides implementing the 8th Wage Board Award and constituting the 9th one.  “The PPP and the present government recognise and respect the critical role of the media in promoting democracy, as an independent media is a guarantor of human rights, freedoms and liberties,” the president said, while addressing the 22nd annual APNS award distribution ceremony here at Aiwan-e-Sadr.   He assured his full support and assistance to the APNS.
