Prison death: Nigerian prisoner’s body handed over

Prisoner was serving time in Adiala Jail and was shifted to the hospital four days ago.

RAWALPINDI: The body of a Nigerian prisoner convicted in a narcotics case, who died of illness a day before, was handed over to the Embassy of Nigeria on Monday. Oklohama Sonami, 55, died of liver failure at the District Headquarter Hospital on Sunday night, Station House Officer Ganjmandi Police Shabir Khan told The Express Tribune. The prisoner was serving time in Adiala Jail and was shifted to the hospital four days ago, after his condition deteriorated owing to a liver problem, the official said. He added that the body was handed over following due process of law.
