Corruption cases against 12 officials

Misappropriation of Rs2.1 million by forging fee slips under various heads, including hajj vaccinations

FAISALABAD:

The Anti-Corruption Establishment on Monday registered cases against 12 officials, including a senior Health Department clerk and four sub inspectors, in separate incidents of abuse of authorty and embezzlement of thousands of rupees.

Ghulam Mustafa, a senior clerk in Toba Tek Singh Health Department, was found guilty in a departmental inquiry of misappropriating Rs2.1 million by forging fee slips under various heads, including hajj vaccinations and issuance of birth and death certificates. An inquiry was held against him on directives of the district coordination officer.

In other departmental inquiries, SI Muhammad Aslam was found guilty of receiving Rs35,000 bribe from one Allah Wasaya, a resident of Chak No249-RB. In his complaint, Wasaya said that the SI asked him to pay the bribe if he wanted results of an investigation in a case in his favour.  Similarly, SI Sarfraz was found receiving Rs20,000 bribe; SI Muhammad Shareef of receiving  Rs13,000; SI Liaquat Ali of receiving Rs5,000; ASI Rasheed of receiving Rs4,000; SI Asghar Ali of receiving Rs200,000; SI Allah Ditta of receiving Rs30,000; constable Iftikhar Bajwa and volunteer Ali Raza of receiving Rs10,000.

Revenue Department officials Rasheed Ahmad and Muhammad Ramzan were found guilty of receiving Rs9,500 and Rs4,700 in separate incidents.

The ACE has started raiding for the arrest of these suspects.
