Pakistan junior hockey team management has expressed its satisfaction after the side beat Malaysia 2-1 in a three-match series and managed to draw its series with Korea 1-1.
Team coach Ahmed Alam, while terming the Malaysian tour a beneficial exposure for the young side, also gave a thumbs-up to the players’ performance.
“We were able to defeat Malaysia and Korea after having lost to them in a couple of earlier events,” Alam told The Express Tribune. “This is why the wins matter more and are a good omen as it has given team confidence. The most positive aspect of the tour was that we were able to find impressive talent which excelled despite the tour being their first international assignment.”
Meanwhile, Alam added the tour has helped the team gain confidence ahead of next month’s Junior Asia Cup in Malaysia. “Both Malaysia and Korea are good teams and the tour was good preparation for the crucial tournament.”
