The contents of the resolution state that “the house salutes the services and achievements of the deceased, particularly in the wars of 1965 and 1971”. The resolution demands that a road be named after Chaudhry and that his achievements be included in the educational syllabus so that “the new generation can learn from his excellent track record”.
Rafique said that minorities had become orphans as their prominent leader who often guided and encouraged them had passed away.
Decorated war hero, educationist and rights activist Cecil Chaudhry had passed away on Friday at the age of 70.

gujranwal789 Pakistan will remains a failed state because of fanatics like you who will continue to find more n more victims to hate n kill like Sikhs Hindus Shias Bengalis Hazaaras Barelvis Sindhis Balochis Pakhtoons
the list will never end.Pakistanis only hope is to migrate to west n prosper.At one hand u curse USA n green card of USA is the biggest achievement in life.
@gujranwala789@yahoo.com: Sir I am a Punjabi Muslim and for me Ranjit Singh is my hero.Ranjit Singh was not a bandit but he is considered a hero of Punjab. You can never give a single example where Punjabi Muslims fought with Sikhs. Please dont see a history with Religious bias Thanks to Ranjit SIngh that we are not slaves any more and you know were slaves of Afghans and they took away our lands and Ranjit SIngh told the locals that he will take away all the lands from the Afghan forces and will redistribute it among local people. The land where we are sitting right now is the same land that was taken by Durrani forces and we were enslaved and Ranjit SIngh along with Local Muslims take away that land back. Ranjit Singh forces three generals were Muslims. So before looking into history please look it without Bias. Ranjit Singh is my hero. If he would not be there then Punjabis will be slaves of Afghans. We are a free people and it is because of Ranjit Singh. I have a question that would you prefer to live as slaves under Afghans right now or live as a free a Person. If the answer is Free person not a slave then Ranjit Singh is my hero who fought Durranis and dismantled them and we are free nation.
@Zameer:
Ranjeet singh sikh was a dacoit and bandit , he was the most hated figure by punjabi muslims of gujranwala and wazirabad, our ancestors fought against this sikh tyrant and laid down their lives for islam, those punjabi muslims who fought this dacoit ranjeet singh are heros of punjabi muslims of gujranwala not this dacoit ranjeet singh sikhar.
@Umer: Firstly this isnt your real name, some raam krishna etc must be your name and only from a great indian's mind could this hypocrisy be expected off. Man firstly dont come disguised under local Pakistani names. You have a point, put it with your real name and location. The height of hatred for Muslims in your mindset shows clearly where you're writing from, this is a typical indian signature, we heat-seak you pal not by your alias =P
Very good idea to honor this son of the soil. By the way do we also have any Sikh, Hindu or Qadiani on some important position in our Armed Forces???
@Pakistan politics:
Can you see a Muslim MP's name supporting it? I can’t.
We should honour all our heros like Cecil choudhry, Dr Abdus Salam. Name some institute In their momory
@Uzair Javed:
That would have been a lie. Pakistan MPs are not calling for it, only a single non-Muslim MP put the resolution across. Even the MP's own party PPP did not present the resolution and he had to do it on his own. There is obviously no support from Muslim MPs.
@Umer: who said Muslim MPA's are opposing it???
@Pakistan politics:
Why blame ET for the bigotry of the Muslim (Majority) MPs?
@Pakistani Muslim: Its the basic S.O.P at EXPRESS TRIBUNE. Unfortunately it could have been the other way saying "Pakistanis asking for an honour for Cecil". ET puts in extra effort to show its role in making Pakistan look ethnically broken apart or fragmented
@Anonymous: I am a Muslim and endorse this idea. A Muslim not saying doesn't mean wont say so. Get out of this fanatic mindset which makes you think about everyone else as a fanatic. Cecil Chaudhry is and was a Pakistani Patriot
@Pakistani Muslim:
Where is the evidence of your claim? He was discriminated in life and also in death.
@Pakistani Muslim The majority of Pakistanis may agree but if the majority MPAs who claim to be representatives of the masses support this resolution I wil be pleasantly very very suprised.
Why minority in headline??? u could have wrote an MPA, ET sharam kar ab toh
@Anonymous: Wrong.... A Pakistani MPA presented this idea and i'm sure Majority of MPA's who are Muslims will agree to this resolution...infact Majority of Pakistanis will agree...its about time we get rid of dividing ourselves on religious & ethnic grounds.. LOVE PAKISTAN
What was the need of putting "Minority" in headline??? When will be stop this practice...
what about PAF Base Cecil (Peshawar)
@khan I agree with you. There should be a hospital similar to Sir Ganga Ram hospital or trust as named after the most benevolent Lahore resident of the past. Chaudhry 's services should be institutionalized if nothing else at least make one of the PAF cadet college named after him.
Not only on the name of Cecil but also other past heroes of this region like Bhagat Singh who was born in Faisalabad and Ranjit Singh who was a great warrior and born in Gujranwala. We should commemorate about them as well.
Mr Pervez, Instead of a renaming a road IMO its better to open a college for higher education and/or a hospital.
