Detained by mistake: Man suffers for employer’s default

Owner had learnt about his helper Hammad Hassan’s detention when the latter called him on his cell phone.

FAISALABAD: An employee at an electronics workshop in Kehkashan Colony was released on Friday almost 24 hours after he was locked inside when by Excise and Taxation (E&T) officials sealed the property for tax default. Owner Shehzad Ahmed had learnt out about his helper Hammad Hassan’s detention on Friday morning when the latter called him on his cell phone. Ahmed said he informed E&T officials about it and requested them to de-seal the shop so that Hassan could be released. Ahmed is in a default of Rs54,000 income tax.
