The comments came during a press conference with Jamaat-e-Islami’s provincial chief Professor Ibrahim at the Markaz-e-Islami. Haq said that the DPC is standing firm against reopening the Nato supply routes and added that parliament’s decision to reopen the routes will not be an easy decision to make.
Haq said that the timing of the upcoming DPC rally in Peshawar on April 15 was of utmost importance but “Peshawar’s rally is more important than those held in Karachi and Lahore because it is an area that is directly affected by the Nato supply line,” he said.

@MUSLIM PAKISTANI: And you are happy making Pakistan a failed 19th century country?? Grow up. The world cares too hoots for terrorist nations. Besides, who are you to stop the benefits to the hapless poor 180 million pakistanis? They need international support. Otherwise they are doomed to excruciating poverty for ever. Do you want Pakistan to become another sub saharan country with narchy all over? Drones will stop dronning if terrorists are crushed once and for all. pakistan cannot become the world centre of terrorism.
I guess DPC likens NATO supply route to birth canal as the only route for US attack. Protection and closure seems to be a logical conclusion.
The DPC seems like the revolutionary council defending Pakistan, while the rest of the civil/military/political establishment has no role! The DPC seems to mould themselves on the ayatollahs in iran! God bless pakistan and DPC. The enlightened mullahs will surely lead pakistan to the 19th century!! DPC seems to be making its moves to enter politics as soon as possible!
I have some good news to share with my Pakistani cousins. Indian parliament has decided to allow Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from Pakistan without any limit or conditions !! Hope you take advantage of this and invest liberally in the Indian growth story.
@Sheda-Rambo which majority are you talking about? We are isolated enough by the International community and considering all our problems most of which are off our own making what will we achieve by continuing to block supplies........our own economy benefits by creating employment and if we now tax the movement of goods and have said no to drone strikes in Pakistan and no transport of weapons< where is the problem? Seems your like the Mullah brigade stuck with your head in the sand and not seeing whats going on around you!
....the DPC is a non-state player, they dont even have a genuine vote-bank (if you recall what happened to MMA in previous elections), so why even take them into consideration?
The question arises why to open the routes for NATO? Answer seems to be very much clear that the Govt.. , parliamentarians are being given their share by the US so why not open this...
Let me make everyone clear one thing that US never apologised for the brutal killings of Pakistanis and they will never apologise for this, they will just increase the money given to the damn Pakistani politicians to keep their mouths shut so that they might not interfere in their (US) interests.
Just think for a moment that if the soldiers martyred were your sons or brothers then would you be in favour opening the NATO routes or not.
Is the Pakistani's soldiers blood that much cheap that it could be drained for no reason... ????
Conspiracy by CIA.
Standing firm or sitting along the street begging or walking in desert, who cares them?
DPC seems to be the only one representing People or Mojority of People in Pakistan ...i hope they also dont take U-turns like Imran Khan, PTI, Moulana FazalurRehman, PML n and so many otherss .... :(
PPP Govt has again shown that its Loyalties lies with US interests rather than #PakistanWho are these people to say yes or no. If parliament had decided to open the routes thats the end of the story. These mullahs have no representation in the parliament and are acting like dictators........They are a minority with their short sighted agendas and should be held on charges of treason for acting against the state!! Suo Moto notice is in order MR. CJ.
Hamid Gul, Hafiz Saeed and Sheikh Rashid must go to FATA to protest against drone attacks. A jalsa there would be very effective. I hope they heed my free advice.
Hilarious. I know they can do better than that for a reason to oppose it. Don’t get lazy now. At least make it a bit more realistic. There are plenty of reasons that are far better than a threatened supply line to twist for an attack. Someone get the old man his dementia medication.
