
At least seven passengers were killed and eight others were injured in a collision between a passenger coach and a van in Donali, Haripur district, on Wednesday.
A three-year old girl, whose parents also died in the crash, escaped miraculously unhurt.
The accident occurred when a speeding Mansehra-bound coach coming from Lahore collided head-on with a van going to Rawalpindi from Balakot in Donali, according to the police.
The driver of the passenger coach fell asleep near Donali Bridge which caused the accident, said eyewitnesses.
The accident was so severe that rescue workers had to cut through the metal to remove the bodies.
The injured passengers, of whom three are stated to be in critical condition, were shifted to Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad.
The bodies were taken by locals and rescue workers to Women and Children Hospital, Haripur.
The deceased were identified as Wali Muhammad; Rehana Bibi and her husband Abdul Sattar; Iqbal Khan from Balakot; Wali Muhammad of Mansehra; Muhammad Aqeel Nawaz and his wife Gulzar Bibi, also from Mansehra and van driver Amir Shehzad.
The injured including Sultan, five-year-old Madeha Bibi and Muhammad Siddique are stated to be in critical condition, whereas five other passengers were discharged after receiving first aid.
The three-year-old girl who escaped unhurt was identified as, Sehrish Bibi, daughter of Rehana Bibi and Abdul Sattar.
