Memogate scandal: Ijaz rubbishes Haqqani’s claim of contacting RIM
Ijaz, in an email, claimed that to file a proper RIM waiver consent form, Haqqani needs to submit the PIN codes and the IMEI numbers of his BlackBerry phones, but Haqqani had told the judicial commission that he lost one of his phone, which is contradictory.
He added that it was impossible for RIM to give him data on the basis of his phone number and the company had “already stated that they do not generally keep record logs of communications between various PINs more than 3 months, and in extreme, not beyond six months.”
Earlier during the day, Haqqani’s lawyer Zahid Bukhari told Express News that Haqqani has sent a letter to RIM in order to receive his BlackBerry data. He added that the step was taken in accordance with the orders of the judicial commission probing the scandal.
“Haqqani has given complete authority to RIM to email the data either to Haqqani or to my email account, so I can present it to the commission after seeing it through. They have a law that they do not share their data with any third party whether it is a court or anyone else. Therefore, we have emailed the request according to the order,” said Bukhari.
The lawyer added that by writing to RIM, Haqqani wants to prove that he is ready to comply with all judicial orders.
He added that Haqqani’s lawyer in the Supreme Court Asma Jahangir will also request the court to look into the application filed by Haqqani to have his statement recorded via video link as his life is in danger. “Haqqani wants to record his statement at any cost.”

If Mansoor Ijaz can be given the privilege of video link testimony due to a supposed fear of a threat to his life, why can't Hussain Haqqani?
The news starts with "Mansoor Ijaz, a key respondent in the Memogate scandal, has questioned former ambassador to US Husain Haqqani’s claim of requesting Research In Motion (RIM) for his BlackBerry data." When MI has questioned HH then the justices are sure to go with him. He is their only witness, without him there is no case. That is why they have ben begging and chasing him even overseas. In this case the prosecution, witness and judge are all on the same lines and need each other.
why doesn't any body realise that same conversation that allegedly tookmplace between the two,would be on mr ijaz phone records and that should be enough. Why ask Haqani ??
So in summary --- the Commission doesn't have any evidence to convict Haqqani and wants Haqqani to provide that evidence. Does anyone really think that Haqqani (or anyone for that matter) would volunteer evidence that would land themselves in jail? Time to move on.
Memo commission, please forget everything and just wind up the memo inquiry. The commission is NEVER going to get better of the government tactics!.

Haqani is prima facie hiding the facts. Let him come to Pakistan and appear before the Commission.He gave undertaking to Supreme Court
MI had mentioned to the Commission that RIMM keeps only 3 months of data. If this is true and as It is now over 9 months, RIMM may not have any data available.
If our money can be spent to please the foreigner Ijaz then Haqqani's requested also must be heard and accommodated. He should not come to attend the commission and stick to his demand of being in London or whatever.
@ishrat salim: Quite some twisted logic in your post there. Can you clarify how, according to you, there is a contempt of court? Contempt of a commission... may be... if you want to be too delusional. But contempt of court is a bit far fetched; court has not yet asked HH to return, and there is a case pending in the court for video link.

First, it isn't funny kid. Second, Bukhari is HH's lawyer, so technically he isn't a third party. But it will be up to BB to decide if they can release to HH's lawyer, as even the spouse cannot get the data. Where on earth do you live?

The whole drama is a waste of time (and money).
RIM does not release data or contents to anybody. Husain Haqqani has therefore sent the request knowing fully well that RIM will not oblige. The commission is delusional if it has ordered Haqqani to get RIM to provide data. They should have known better or been advised better. Shame.
Very Good HH, this will shut some mouths. But HH should be spared from coming to Pak, he faces imminent danger.
