Changing sides: Enver Baig joins PML-N
Announcing Baig’s induction at a press conference in Lahore, Sharif said that he had “old agreements” with Baig.
LAHORE:
Former Pakistan Peoples Party senator Enver Baig on Wednesday announced his decision to join Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N).
The former senator had resigned after the Islamabad chapter of the PPP had suspended his basic membership on allegations of violating party discipline.
Baig, a veteran PPP leader, had met PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif before his suspension.
Announcing Baig’s induction at a press conference in Lahore, Sharif said that he had “old agreements” with Baig. He also said that he consulted Baig many times about important matters.
He had also said that he did not intend to challenge the move because he had more “substantive issues” on his mind.
Baig is considered to be close to the Makhdoom Amin Fahim group in the ruling PPP, which is believed to have been sidelined within the party.
