LAHORE:

Lahore High Court Chief Justice (CJ) Sheikh Azmat Saeed on Tuesday said that the bureaucracy had started following the Punjab government’s lead in not complying with court orders. The CJ was directing his remarks to the Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police who had appeared in court on a petition filed by two DSPs against the Police Department for not giving them their due promotions.

The CJ also said that the courts knew how to implement orders and no one would be allowed to violate court orders. “We will not allow anyone to play games with the courts.”The IG had said that he was new in the job and needed more time to look into the matter.

The court directed the IG to present the relevant record on April 18, the next hearing.

At the last hearing, the judge had accepted the IG’s unconditional apology and directed him to look into the matter.

Petitioners, two DSPs had submitted that the department was not promoting them to the rank of SP.
