To pay tribute to people who “sacrificed their lives for the cause of Hazara province”, Suba Hazara Tehrik (SHT) has announced a wheel-jam and shutter-down strike across Hazara division on April 12.
The day will mark the second death anniversary of the people who were fired at by the police while protesting against the government’s decision to change the name of the former North West Frontier Province to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
Over 120 protesters also sustained injuries during the incident, which can be described as a turning point for the two-decade-long movement for Hazara province.
A press release issued by SHT stated that transporters of all the six districts of Hazara have been taken on board to ensure a complete wheel-jam strike.
A programme to pay tribute to the fallen protesters will be held in Abbottabad. The political leadership of all participating parties has been requested to hoist just the Pakistan flag during the ceremony, according to the press statement.
