Badminton: Pakistan players want ban overturned

KARACHI: Pakistan’s top badminton players have expressed their disappointment that the top sports bodies - Pakistan Olympic Association and Pakistan Sports Board - have done nothing to revoke the Badminton World Federation (BWF) ban on Pakistan.  The sanction was imposed after two badminton federations were active in the country with one of them alleging that the other was involved in human trafficking. As a result, the BWF banned Pakistan and its players from international tournaments, while also seeking the country to resolve its issues first. “Badminton in Pakistan is suffering badly due to the ban,” said top player Rizwan Azam. “Players see no future in the sport and soon there would be no player left.”
