According to reports, Qureshi was on a party tour when suddenly he lost consciousness after having dinner with other party workers. He had chest pain followed by a cough. Qureshi was shifted to a local hospital where he breathed his last at around 2:45am.
Some party workers believed that Qureshi was neither a heart patient nor had he suffered heart attack before. Some leaders of his party alleged that he was poisoned slowly, which resulted in his death. Soon after his death, the deceased was taken to Chandka Hospital, Larkana for postmortem.
Qureshi belongs to Ratodero of Larkana district and was a popular Sindhi nationalist and follower of GM Syed’s mission who wanted the independence of Sindh.
The party has announced three-day mourning and a large number of people have started heading towards Bashir Qureshi’s hometown.
Business activities have come to a standstill in Sindh. Universities and colleges have been closed while the administration of Matric board in many districts have postponed today’s papers.
According to party officials, the funeral will be held in Ratodero at around 5:30pm and Qureshi will be laid to rest in Sann, near the grave of GM Syed.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain also expressed his sorrow over the death of the JSQM leader.
Qureshi started his political career by joining Jeay Sindh Student Federation (JSSF). He did his Master's from Agriculture University of Tando Jam. As a student, Qureshi played his role during the movement of restoration of democracy (MRD) during General Ziaul Haq’s tenure. He went to jail dozens of times and was later elected as central president JSSF. After the death of leader GM Syed who was his political mentor, the party decided to elect him chairman JSQM.
Recently, his party organized “Independence March” on March 23 where hundreds of thousands of people gathered from Tibet Centre Karachi to Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum.
Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed his deep grief and sorrow over sudden death of Qureshi and condoled with the members of bereaved family and his followers.

@mujahid shah: Don't forget his real mission. To rise against vaderas and finish off the zamindari system. He wanted to campaign for land ceiling and distribute excess land to the landless in Sindh.
Qom mazhab se hai mazahb jo nahin tum bhe nahin...let's be true Muslims first and then true Pakistanis.
@ Salman Orangiwala
people like you always misquote the things and are misunderstood as you have named me as Darbar instead of Darbadar! VERY STRANGE
Time and again Sindhi nationalists have proved their influence in Sindh on Saturday by mourning on the death of Bashir Qureshi. There was complete shutter down and it was voluntarily decision. None any forced people to shut their markets. This is clear message to those forces who always criticize Sindhi nationalists for being unpopular saying "they can't even win UC seat".
They day will come when sons of this soil turn up to join hands to rule their own motherland as they have envisaged their manifestos.
JEAY SINDH
@ Mujahid Shah and others... LONG LIVE PAKISTAN!
O! my GOD. If this incident would have happened in karachi the city had witnessed bloodshed
thanks Allah
almighty allah give his rest of soul
ooHHH I think Punjabi Establishment is behind his heart attack..... Another sheikh Mujeeb is gone.....
My condolences! He stood up for what he thought was right. However, in the end, I would like to tell people that please prepare for the hereafter. Everything we have and want will be left behind save for our good deeds.
As a side note, I am surprised Punjab bashing has not yet started!
I am very sad today! We may differ from his idelology but we cannot differ from his struggle for sindhi people. He always talked about sindh meaning he was talking about me.Hope we sindhies will unite one day and will raise ourseleves above any political party because people who is looting us and hate us are doing it just because we are sindhi. RED SALUTE to bashir Qureshi from sindhies in Canada. May Allah bless his soul and may Allah bless my motherland, my Sindh…RIP Bahir Qureshi..
@Jumman Darbar , peacefull Rally ???? Who do u kdding ?
The people in that rally openly snatched cell phones from the pedestrians and from the bus passengers .Go read the new papers of the next day .
They throuwed threats to Muhajirs , peaceful yet ? Comeon .
And do you know what the slogan was ? to Break up Paksitan !!!!!!! How many of you Sindhis subscribe to this philisophy of the deceased / Mind telling me ?
@Sindhi
You look modern Sindhi! Can u please let this forum know the meaning of Wadera ??
@Ayesha
hype is being created. No one was either injured or killed. This was totally peaceful march. One can defer the ideology of the party, but cannot blame. Mr. Qureshi had vocally announced that people of Sindh had welcomed the Urdu speaking brothers and will continue this bond. He rather appealed them to come up and join hands for the same cause.
I assure you that march and other events being organized by nationalist have always been non-violent
This is another big setback for the whole nation of SINDH after the assassination of Muhtarma Benazir Bhutto. Mr. Qureshi was a true nationalist and he always fought for the rights of his people and homeland Sindh. May ALLAH Almighty rest his soul in peace and comfort.
@Ayesha: Do you have any evidence or proof? Pls stop such propaganda!! Dont hurt his millions of fans by using baseless allegations. If you have evidence, pls do go to courts. Supreme court gave observations against all parties for doing militant activities excluding sindhi nationalists. Pls check facts.
i am very sad on the death of chairman jeay sindh qomi mahaz basheer khan qureshi he very best ,good and sincere soljour and son of mother land sindh camred basheer khan qureshi death is not only one person death but its death of sindhi nation. but i hop 2nd basheer khan will born very soon . further i say that its great loss of sindh. god will rest his soul in peace. regards. tahir hussain memon advocate dadu
His heartbreaking death can only guide his friends if they go to get a heart check-up today for the love of their leader & their own kids. Remember, no one can tell about himself or someone else(not even a doctor) without really checking if some-one is actually a heart patient. I have seen young athletes die on court & field from heart attack in their 20's and 30's. Listen to your Doctor and strictly follow the diet & exercise plan to see your grand children or atleast attend your kids wedding.
Indeed a big political loss of Sindh's political movement, i do agree with friends that his death must be investigated, he has died in very mysterious circumstances. He truely dedicated his life for political work and rights, he did inspire thousands of youth from lower classes. The kind of political activism that he created, mobilized seems to be un matched in moder political history of Sindh. Many believed what late Sain GM syed Could not do, Bashir Qureshi, despite rifts and factionalism in his party, was able to do, in terms of bringing out big crowds on political issues. His untiring struggles leaves a marck on Sindh's political history. Sindh continues to mourn yet another political leader, mourning for Sindh and Sindhis is endless.
May Allah bless his soul and give him a place in Jannat .. Ameen

Baloch people also respect him for his unequivocal support for Baloch nationalist movements and he was not an icon for Sindhis only but also for Baloch people. We also salute you for your struggle and love for your land. May he rests in Peace.
It is shocking news. Hard to believe that he is no more with us. Bashir Khan Qureshi was true son of soil, his life was life of struggle and love for land, he belonged to a lower middle class family, he dedicated his life for Sindh and he went to jails several times for his struggle for rights of people of Sindh. He never bowed down before the pressures and offers of big positions in government. Till his last breath, he was true to Sindh cause. His mission and struggle is a lesson for us.
@Murtaza: Very well said. The day we realize this we will emerge as a strong nation.
Really we have lost hero of Sindh
its a big loss of sindhi nation.
Why JSQM is not against Wadaraa shahi, ... why JSQM is not against Karooo Karii ... please focus on real issues not on the separation of Pakistan ...
@Mohammad Ali Siddiqui: To a quote "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing". Kindly get more information from MQM, that it was Bashir Khan Qureshi who supported MQM to make their political presence in rural Sindh. He always supported Sindh-Mohajir unity. His speech of 23rd March was welcomed by every Sindhi except anti-Sindh elements. On his sad moment, we need to salute this leader and bridge the gaps between old and new Sindhis instead of posting hateful comments.
I am against his separation ideology
Sad but we all have to go one day. But it is very sad because he went so early. May his soul rest in peace.Amen. Lets all work for a united Pakistan and united people. Lets promote love, brotherhood and fraternity. Lets live and let live.
It is time we focussed on getting our due rights that have been usurped by the landlords. The marhoom in private was very concerned about the plight of the Sindhis at the hands of the vaderas and wanted to free them from the clutches and shackles of the vaderas. This part of his mission, never highlighted, needs to be propagated, lauded and emulated.
Dividing muslims to enhance one's agenda is the sad tale of most poliiticians today in Pakistan.
In the end we must all face Allah and answer for our time on earth.
Everything is left behind except one's deeds, both good and bad.

A nationalist and leader of Sindu Desh died in mysterious circumtances.
In the last rally on March 23, 2012 in Karachi his speech was only welcomed by the nationalists and no one else.
Though he also spoke against Mohajirs who migrated 50 years ago to Pakistan but despite the fact Mr. Altaf Hussain condole his death.
May Al-Mighty Allah rest his sould in peace. Ameen.
May God bless his soul.he was brave man,who brought sindhi nationalist movement in the mainstream, whole of sindh is closed today and mourning peacefully.
Its indeed a great loss for Sindhi nation. One can disagree on his ideology but no one can challenge his commitment to Sindh's cause and fight for rights of Sindhi nation. He was also bridge between New Sindhis (Urdu Speaking) and Old Sindhis. His mission was continuation of great Sindhi nationlist leader Saeen G.M syed. Today, Saeen G.M syed and Bashir Qureshi are no more with us, but their legacy will go on and they will always be remembered for their struggle for Sindh cause. Rest in peace.
Great leader of sindh Bashir khan Qureshi Biggest loss of Sindhi nation Real son of sindh
He has been killed bcoz he was in favor of sindhudesh development..
So young to die, 54 is not that old, how tragic.
what will be fate of the nationalist parties specially JSQM. Now these parties should come and join hands by overcoming their differences
From zero to hero on death.. wait ive seen that earlier.
Really we have lost hero of Sindh
A great and truthful leader...!!! May His Soul Rest In Peace...
I myself am a proud Sindhi but a Pakistani first. I never believed in Bashir Khan Qureshis agenda of separate Sindh. However my prayers are with his family and I will pray to Allah to grant him a place in heaven. I hope JSQM under a new leadership changes its manifesto and advocates for development of Sindh instead of fighting a loosing battle of independence.
Rest in peace
impartial inquiry must be initiated into the murder of our leader. I met him in Hyderabad a day befoe he left Khairpur Mirs. He was not heart patient or suffering from any disease
Really we have lost great leader of Sindh
Sad to hear about the loss. Don't agree with his policies.
Very popular leader we ever have seen in Sindh. Being a student I have witnessed the political influence of his party in universities and colleges. No doubt he had raised the issues of Sindhi people. The party has enormouns 'STREET POWER' in the province
we salute his struggle against and he was brave man who stood up for the rights of people living in Sindh and never compromised. Really we have lost a true follower of GM Syed
Toronto Canada
great loss. he was true nationalist leader of Sindh
Hundreds of thousands of people? when was that? Lets, not be carried away by emotions...
puts on tin foil hat
Let the conspiracy theories start.
