RAJANPUR: A police officer was killed and three constables injured when alleged kidnappers opened fire on police after they recovered a kidnapped girl at Hajipur on Thursday. Police reported that Shahnawaz, a member of the Sohrani family in Hajipur, was accused of kidnapping Shazia Bibi along with accomplices. A case had been registered with police. The complainant moved the court and the additional sessions judge Jampur directed police to recover the girl. Early on Thursday, a joint team raided Shahnawaz’s residence in Hajipur and recovered the missing girl. On the way back to Jampur, the accused fired at police, which killed ASI Tasawwur Hussain on the spot. Three constables Mumtaz Ahmad, Abdul Hayee and Abdul Wahid were injured in the firing and shifted to DHQ hospital Rajanpur.
