Girl gets 34-year imprisonment for throwing acid on ex-fiance's father
Rukhsana, who had been arrested on November 10, 2010, was engaged to Shehzad and due to some unknown reasons, their engagement was broken by Shehzad’s family.
After some time, on the evening of Shehzad’s mehndi, Rukhsana reached his house in order to 'take revenge' and had a scuffle with his family.
Shehzad’s father Akhtar Razzaq tried to stop Rukhsana and in her defense, she flung acid on Razzaq’s face, leaving him blind in one eye.
Correction: The name of the girl had earlier been incorrectly stated in parts of the story. This has been fixed.

Injustice has been served!
Nowhere in the world Acid is found in such pure & concentrated form at a local shop than in Pakistan. I wonder what they are cooking or cleaning that no place on earth uses it for? Neither the bomb-making Urea is readily available & sold in pure form anywhere but Pakistan. Also nowhere can you die from rat poison than in India & Pakistan. Even Clothes, curtains or tents don't catch fire as readily as in India & Pakistan.What I am saying is at-least you can tie the camel before night falls.
I am surprised that some people are shocked at the prompt action and verdict of the court against the woman. Let us consider one fact to understand this duplicity of courts. How many women are sitting in the SC and H. Courts of Pakistan even though there are many great women lawyers? The court may be harsh against women but they are not against the extremists.
All countries have violence problems in male/female relationships, but throwing acid at people appears to be a predominantly Pakistan technique. Surely acid could be made more difficult to acquire. On another tack this does appear to be justice Pakistan style. In the same week the Pakistan Justice system indicated it was powerless to intervene in the case of a man throwing acid, but showed that it can be all-powerful when women throw acid. Best of luck girls. They do say that things get worse before they get better, but you appear to be waiting an awful long time for improvements to happen.
what is happening to our society's tolerance level ? it seems every second individual is being the judge him/herself and to inflict acid burns on the guilty party is the only sentence. While I think court deserve accolade for being fast atleast in this case, I hope our courts to show same speediness and seriousness in all other pending cases too! that too without any gender or class differences!
One thing is clear, Women, minorties, shias, qaidanis, gays, lesbians, baloch, muhajir, co-eds...and the list goes on have no rights, only the establishment is supreme
When there is an absence of justice..........natural justice takes its place.

Acid availability is not an issue likewise many other hazardous things r in the market. The most concern is to extremely discourage this practice since its now been translated into females & this is the third incident of its nature.
If a man throws acid , no punishment. If a woman throws, immediate punishment. If a man has many girlfriends he a stud, if a woman has many boyfriends, she is a slut. These are double standards. Thats why I hate all conservative cultural values and outdated religious codes.
Why is acid so widely available?!? Its not that we need it in our everyday lives!. Koi haal nahi hai mulk ka.

Acid is an essetial product for many of our big and small industries, it cannot be banned. What the government should do is make a law that acid should only be sold under license and punish / fine any shopkeeper who disregard this law. But at the same time a nearly three life sentence to girl is too harsh for such a crime when others are going scott free just because they have more money for pay offs.....
Why is it so easy for people to get acid in this country??

Lesson for whom --- for men, do it & go scot free. For women, do it & get imprisoned for life (& also be proud of a quick justice).
Thats not fair, when men throw acid on women, they are not imprisoned, when women throw acid, they are thrown to jail.
Next time if a woman wants to punish someone she should hire a man. Somehow they never get caught or punished for anything even if it is killling their wives and sisters in full view of everyone in the family , they always manage to "abscond".

Wow. I knew our liberal brothers will condemn this verdict of the respected court and would try to bring up the acid throwing incidents where females were the victims and males the culprits.
But, after all; culprit is a culprit no matter which sex he/she belongs to. I say put her in jail for the rest of her life to learn the acid throwers a lesson.

I think the problem is always the lack of witness. Mostly the men committing such crimes are more mental than she is. Yet, they get away becasue they leave no witness behind.

This is pathetic. man throws acid to female, no action against him., But when a female throws acid on men, she is awarded with 34 year imprisonment.
All such acts are barbaric no matter which gender thorws the acid but this is ridiculous,while they tell us Bilal Khar's case cant be even re-opened,this women is given 34 years..I bet she thought she'l get away with this like all others (read men) but she forgot the gender checklist..

Woah,a verdict in less than 2 years after the incident happening.The courts surely do work fast when any woman is the offender,it's a pity that lakhs of other cases keep on lying pending for decades without a verdict.Maybe if in those cases there was a chance to severly punish a woman,those cases would reach a verdict soon also.

Mukhtara mai's gang rapists are set free to live their life happily,fakhra younis killed herself after the person who threw acid on her wasn't punished,rapists of small girls are set free by courts but it's nice to see our judicial system working so efficiently when the victim is a male.
