“He shot dead his 18-year-old wife and her lover, who was 17, on Tuesday, in the Jordan Valley,” where the unnamed suspect worked on a farm, the official told AFP.
“He has confessed, saying he killed them when he came to his house and saw them together in a suspicious situation. He was charged with premeditated murder.”
Murder is punishable by death in Jordan but, in so-called “honour killings,” courts can commute or reduce sentences.
Between 15 and 20 women die in such murders each year in the Arab kingdom.

You have 2 make several assumptions in order to reach the concusion yuo have: 1. The wife was actually having an afair (it just states that the man thought it was 'suspicious' - that does not mean that it was what he thought it was. 2. Only liberal people have an extramarital affair 3. IF a man finds out that his wife has an affair then he has no choice but to murder his wife (in other words divorce isnot an option).
If either of these assumptions is not true then your conclusion would be incorrect.

Liberal doesn't mean people who endorse immorality. I wonder where from the people are getting their references? Neither conservative mean people who fear God in all their actions. Also feminine liberation don't mean sexual promiscuity. Neither piety mean perfect human beings. Beside option of Divorce should be used more often just to save a women(& her lover's) life in such situations, of-course beside saving ones own life from later misery.Just today I read this 19year old(Christian, White male) killed his girl friend's lover & her mom with an axe before committing suicide with a gun in this mid-western state of U.S. Fact is: There will always be some one who crosses and fall-over the other side of humanity regardless of their race or religion.

I do not buy this story. He is a Pakistani. He is 20 years and he is settled as a farmer in an alien country. How many twenty years old married boys are settled as farmers abroad.

boss, you are confusing liberalism with vice and immorality. All political thought or individuals are susceptible to immoral deeds. Perhaps a liberal is more likely to commit adultery and a far-right conservative (in pakistan any way) is more likely to murder. But the opposite can and has happen as well. (Both are obviously wrong). I doubt this woman or man were overtly liberal or conservative.
It is best not to generalize.

His lawyer would argue that the murder was not premeditated.
According to Wikipedia, premeditated murder is the crime of wrongfully causing the death of another human being after rationally considering the timing or method of doing so, in order to either increase the likelihood of success, or to evade detection or apprehension.
The upper described murder was an emotional act, i.e. the sudden course of action was emotionally out of control from the young Pakistani boy. He should be acquitted of murder and convicted of the lesser offense of voluntary manslaughter.
Voluntary manslaughter is the killing of a human being in which the offender had no prior intent to kill and acted during "the heat of passion," under circumstances that would cause a reasonable person to become emotionally or mentally disturbed. Wikipedia

If you omit the word Pakistani from the headline and the news itself, it would cut down the amount of clicks to this news. Secondly, its a news, the reporter would like to state facts.
The real question is how old is the murderer? Was it a forced wedding? What made the young wife cheat i.e. if she was.
Killing in the name of honour does not mean to murder a person(s). Mentioned circumstances reports a murder. An honour killing would be an execution after a fair trial with some proof or evidence.

Crime of passion often have lesser sentences. If you murder a child, it is a higher degree of evil as opposed to killing a person that was harming your child.
Being a muslim and pakistani, i dont get it either. why would the sentence be reduced?
