During a press conference in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, Saeed said that he will be in Lahore tomorrow and the US can contact him whenever it wants. “The bounty is always set on people who are in hiding… There is no case against me in any American court,” he maintained while terming the bounty absurd.
“America has gone blind in its enmity against Islam… After facing defeat in Afghanistan, it has resorted to such acts. This shows that the Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) has succeeded in its campaign,” added Saeed.
Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam chief Maulana Samiul Haq also announced that Saeed, according to the law, is ready to present himself before any court. “The Difa-e-Pakistan Council, to condemn the US bounty, announces of holding a countrywide protest on Friday.”
Haq added that it was the government’s responsibility to provide security to Saeed. “The government should give a clear message to the US that it should stop interfering in Pakistan’s internal affairs. There is now no doubt in the fact that the US is not our friend, but our enemy.”
He further added that, “The US, in efforts to please India and Israel, wants to increase the drone strikes and operations like that in Abbottabad.”
Award for evidence against Saeed, not whereabouts information: US
Remarking how almost every journalist in Pakistan knew where Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, the cleric who founded the Jamaatud Dawa, and on whom the US had recently announced a $10 million bounty State Department spokesperson Mark Toner clarified on Wednesday that the Rewards for Justice notice against Saeed was not for ‘information about his whereabouts’, but to ‘seek evidence that can be used against Saeed’ which will pass "judicial scrutiny" and lead to his conviction, conceding that the information US intelligence and other agencies had thus far was not sufficient to earn them a conviction.
Addressing the daily press briefing, Toner said in response to a question on the JuD leader's recent public appearance, that unfortunately Saeed was free to give press conferences.
However, he reiterated that the US wanted to bring him to justice. "We are looking for information that would lead to his conviction."
Toner added that the current information gathered by the US intelligence and other agencies was not enough, and that this (bounty) notice would provide Pakistani authorities with the tools to prosecute the case.
The spokesperson further clarified that the announcement for $10 million on Saeed was to highlight the case and the individual, reiterating that the JuD posed a threat to the region.

You hand me 10 million and I'll give you evidence (manufacture it) on anyone that you please.
Buahahahahhhahhahahaaha
Good response from Hafiz Saeed! :D
We'll get him sooner or later. You couldn't protect Osama, and you won't be able to protect this guy either. The clock is ticking.
@Ravish: Who told you that? your are watching to much propaganda tv channels
@Time to wake up: And I am sure u r slow in understanding the comments made by your Indian friends. Pleeeeease read the threads carefully before drafting a long reply. Most of the Indians are saying that he is guilty and there is ample evidence to prove it. Oh bahiya, if u have evidence then show it. Thats a simple rule to convict someone or do the courts act differently in India. Please don't make comments just for the sake of it.
@Ravish: what is your opinion about Kashmir where cruel Indian forces are killing innocent Kashmirs because they want independence from Indian wrath.
@Rafeeki:
Assalamu alaikkum.. Sorry for my little bit harsh reply... Of course I am not representing Indian Muslims.. but definitely I am reflecting Indian Muslims voice..
Believe me we are really against the Mohajir killings happening in Pakistan.. and against the terrorists who killed 178 people in mumbai (including 44 Muslims)... Visit Hyderabad once or talk to any Hyderabadi.. You will understand...
CIA makes everyone else disappear for life. What is stopping them with this Maulvi?
Indian trolls.. please read this and weep...
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/pakistan/9188337/US-admits-it-lacks-evidence-to-convict-10m-Hafiz-Saeed.html
@hafeez.indian: lol... No one is asking you to get a certificate from me... Dont pretend to represent indian muslims because you dont know the ground reality...
@Hero: Will you let the Indian Judicial commission talk to Dawood Ibrahim? Or Hafiz Saeed? Or Mullah Omar? Or any of the 1000s of terrorists who call Pakistan home? To question a convicted person there is a due process. A convict on death row cannot just be allowed to be contacted by willy-nilly anyone. Pakistan's judicial commission has no standing in the Indian courts. India is not asking Pakistan to try the Mumbai Attack case in India. Learn about judicial modalities before making such comments please.
Well done Hafiz Sahib - We are with you.
@Jan: "@hafeez.indian: For the Hindus killed in gujarat, if u r responsible for it then u should feel guilty." He was not responsible for Hindus killed in Gujrat because he has too much humanity in him."* "Why should we." No, you shouldn't because that essential ingredient -humanity- is totally absent in you. "I think u have totally lost the plot my friend. " If I may say so, it is you who have " totally lost the plot" because it is only stupid people who initiate a dastardly action before considering the consequences that would flow from it. In this case, it was 45 to 50 innocent Muslims for every man, woman and child in that bogey that was set on fire. Wouldn't you agree? It doesn't matter though if you don't.
@Rafeeki:
I don't want your Certificate to prove that I am an Indian Muslim.
when will Pakistan learn to live in the global village. At the moment its a sad laughing stock of the world where crazies roam free.
@Ravish So India is not a failed state in: Kashmir, Red Corridor, 7 sister states of asaam, Maoists Independence movements, naxallites.
Why dont you worry about your country slowly dieing from inside, rather than reading Pakistani newspapers daily and spreading false propaganda.
ET check Indian I.P. and ban their comments, thet're only here with agenda and to distract from the original news item.
US gave Hafiz sahib an opportunity to make some fans and hafiz sahib availed it......i m a fan now
you are islamic hero
congratulations to the Pakistani people for guarding Hafiz Saeed, i am sure if he becomes your president , it will be awesome.
Hafiz Saeed has righteously defended himself by saying that he is not hidden and no evidences against him. He is ready to defend himself in any court of law. Now the U.S contradicting their first statement demanding evidences against him. This show the narrow and deliberated approach to defame a Pakistani. Shame on U.S. U.S and Israel are the real threats for world peace. Please civilized nations come forward and stop these insane behaviors.
@hafeez.indian: For the Hindus killed in gujarat, if u r responsible for it then u should feel guilty. Why should we. I think u have totally lost the plot my friend.
IF only pakistanis knew the blow back of supporting this hate monger and LeT leader who grooms terrorists they would step a little back and think neutral on what they get in the long run ... I definetely see something terribly bad things going to happen and some of the peaceful poor pakistanis are going to suffer ! ..Death and misery does not only come via foreign military but through floods during yearly monsoon and I wish pakistanis have good protection and own money to save the crops.
@Zaikam: Indeed Mullahs are brilliant :) Proud to be a Mullah, and Political Mullah
Honesty is the best policy, well if he didnt did anything thats why he is living so openly and also facing the media and going into public functions. http://syedowais.blogspot.com/2012/04/only-10-million-bounty-hafiz-is.html
@Dr Priyanka: Hate mongering if I ever saw it!
All those who hold Mr. Saeed in high esteem - please realize that he is a double edged sword. The sharpness of one edge has been blunted by India. The other edge is still very sharp. The sharp edge will swing inside Pakistan, ultimately. He is no different than other Jihadists who turned against the Pakistani state.
Deep Respects for Hafiz Saeed. This guy just owned US and their stupidity. He also gives indians their wet nightmares
Unfortunately Pakistan is driven by paranoia and blames all their problems on external powers. Pakistan is in deep mess and unlikely to ever emerge from the nightmare it has been plunged into by its military. Recently what US is telling Pakistan is that to fix the mess Pakistan should re-examine its policy of supporting “state sponsored terror programs”.
@Midhat: "They cant put a bounty on anyone’s head and declare him a terrorist without proving."
Yes. They can. Do you know what happened to a Yemeni named alwaki and his Mini Mi from Pakistan called sajid khan?
Hafiz, don't discount it. Only you and your masters may not be in any position to respond to their contact once they make it. In this case it certainly could well be a case of - you wouldn't know what hit you.
"Info leading to arrest" is different from Wanted for such and such reasons. Info leading to arrest could be a bait for someone to come forward and testify against him. It is said, no one wants to come forward and testify therefore the courts have no alternative but to set him free.
Was this man not the leader of Lashkar e Toiba?
@hafeez.indian: Dont pretend to be an Indian Muslim. I know my Muslim families who were slaughtered in Gujarat. For u to point fingers at Pakistan look at the problems at our own community in India.
@question: Where were you Ummah Protectors when Muslims were burning Hindu women, children and old people alike in a train compartment which incidentally led to the Godhra Riots? Oh forgot Godhra... Gojra seems to be more closer to home doesnt it?
@Uzair Javaid: What evidence do you want with respect Mumbai massacre ? Kasab is a Pakistani and that was reported by the Pakistani TV channels in the interview.
Two years ago if world said Osama was in Pakistan you would have said the same thing "Give proof".Pakistan said over and over again that Osama Bin Laden never stayed in their soil but the world proved them wrong when he was killed in Pak soil.(Infact was staying at 5 locations in Pakistan).
@Midhat: That in cricket terms is called a sixes! Good comment
I am sure the Americans will "contact" hafiz saeed very soon but he may not like the way they are going to "contact" him unless he likes missiles fired from drones as a "contact" mechanism. The drone "contact" is a one way conversation where one side disappears after the "contact".
@Katarina: emphasized textAnd what is the reason for that most of the terrorist are muslim"
That was such a hateful Judgement Ms Katrina. I am offended!! btw I would rephrase your question this way " And what is the reason for that most if the victims of terrorism are muslims(Millions of innocent civilians of Afghanistan/ Iraq etc)
@question:
You are talking about 2000 Muslims killed in Gujarat. Why you are not condemning about thousands of peoples getting killed in Pakistan by Extremists and Hundreds of people killed in Karachi?
As a Indian Muslim, I am feeling pity for my Brothers targetted in Karachi. Stop all this nonsense and then talk about Muslims killed in India. (For your information 900 Hindus are also killed in Gujarat during that time and We also should feel guilty for the same).
saeed to US im in lahore tomorrow..................LIKE A BOSS!!
@Katarina: Are you for real? They cant put a bounty on anyone's head and declare him a terrorist without proving. Its exactly opposite to how you put it!!
Can I call you a terrorsit as I dont like your stance here? or should I prove my absurd allegation first. Have some common sense!!
@Hero: They did not. Because Pakistan refused to provide him legal assistance. The terms of visit of the Judicial Commission were agreed prior to their visit to India and they were allowed everything that was agreed. Pakistan is yet to allow India to question Hafiz Saeed or others involved in the attack. Some accused have been jailed by Pakistan but it has not allowed India to meet or interrogate them. Pakistan has done everything, including many foolish acts, to avoid trying the accused. When the attacks are planned in Pakistan, the planners are pakistanis living in Pakistan, the attackers travelled from Pakistan, all evidences and leads given by India are rejected outright by Pakistan and Pakistan has not bothered to probe on the evidences provided by India, what sort of a proof are you expecting ? The evidences are in Pakistan which Pakistan does not want to look. India can only show where the evidence is but it is for Pakistan to probe and collect the evidences as they are in Pakistan. Pakistan can get away with India, but not with USA. Two American Citizens killed in overseas terror attacks are too many for America. It is not just the Mumbai attacks. Nothing has been done to the killer of Daniel Pearl who is still in Pakistan.
@Mohammad: And what is the reason for that most of the terrorist are muslim? Who was behind 9/11? Of course they have not yet put this terrorist in court because they have first to catch the thing and that is why they are offering a bounty.
I am a liberal- But have to say this doesnt make sense at all. You can't put bounty on some other country's citizen without establishing any PROVEN crime against him
@ Indians: have some sense please. Why cant this be understood that Indian Govt. Needs to provide senisble, substancial Proof against HIM. There is NONE!!!!!
And Can US please put a bounty on Bal thakuray &Narinder Modi too. More evidence is present against them then Hafiz Saeed.
@Ravish: The day when Indian will start minding their own business, people will be less skeptical of them. Really trust me. If Pakistan were really a failed state (or more failed state than India) Indians would be doing other importants rather than wasting their time on a newspaper of a 'failed' country.
nice gesture sir.. keep it up we are with you
@question: This is the exact problem with you Pakistanis. You cannot see world beyond muslims and non mulsims prism. while we never blame muslims of being terrorists, we blame an individual as terrorists, you guys gleefully bracket attrocities as commited by Hindus. That is why we hate you. do you even know or realise the fact that of the people killed in Mumbai attack there were equal number of muslims ? Will you now hate those terrorists who killed muslims ? NO...you won't ....cause it is acceptable to you if a mad group of few so called muslims kill muslims, but if mad individual who belongs to Hindu communit kills a muslim you blame it on all Hindus .......This is the real problem with you. Of 2000 people you are claiming which is a wrong figure by the way, you should have eard reports that many were killed in ocnfusion and stamepede rather than actually being butchered. In either ways its a gross loss of human life. We dont think of those who dead or those who killed as hindus and muslims, we see them as human lives lost. And we dont treat those who killed as hindu or muslim we treat them as terrorists. For you muslim terrorist is your hero and hindu terrorist is a terrorist. This double standard is what irks the world. And this attitude from a "muslim" like you brings bad name to muslims. Seriously leave your madrassah mentalilty and think on human level. Be a better human before being better muslim.
This only proves that Pakistani institution and people will do anything to protect this hate machine. And I read many commentors still believe it is India which arm twisted USA to put bounty, that is like giving tooo much credit to India for being capable enough to arm twist USA. Please Pakistanis, decide what you want to call India ? Weak state and impotent which cannot do anything on Pakistan ? Or strong and smart to get world power's attention to the level to put bounty on your well protected asset ? We cannot be both, so make up your mind instead of making India and weak as per your comfort. Your wavering mind and impression of India shows that you have absolutely no idea of India;s capabilities. Hafiz Saeed is just arrogant not brave to challenge USA and all you fools who like bollywood drama believes that just because he is putting open challenge to USA he "must be right and honest"........It is easier to fool you using your emotions than I thought it would be. Your comments here just proves it. Hafiz will be taken care of, one way or other.
@Ravish:
and what about indian population, millions of child are bereft of basic school education and even manmohan singh is also abashed to accept this fact.
@RH: but who killed the muslims? hindus?
@question: Please see this article, written by an Indian Muslim blogger:
Hindus fight to get justice for Muslims in Gujarat riots: The Great untold story of secular India http://www.anindianmuslim.com/2012/02/hindus-fight-to-get-justice-for-muslims.html
@Raj - USA: Did Indian government let Pakistan judicial commission meet Ajmal ? What was the fear which was preventing Indian government to have him meet with the delegation ?
when all of saeed supporters are asking for proof ,let me ask what proof is there that Salala attackers were Nato ? .The killers could be Taliban as well ? .Have they captured the helicopter or recorded any video ? .So this is how it feels when you ask for proof without reasoning skills.
@Haris: Ajmal Kasab admitted that he is a Pakistani and also made several requests to Pakistan High Commission and Pakistan Government to provide him legal assistance. He has made these appeals in public statements that were broadcast on national TV. Pakistan Government initially disowned him but later accepted him as a Pakistani. However, Pakistan government refused to provide him legal assistance. Had they provided legal assistance, they could have not only questioned Ajmal Kasab thoroughly but also could have guided him in the legal process. Pakistan's acceptance of Ajmal Kasab as its citizen is the reason for the Pakistan Judicial Commission's recent visit to India.
What a Man and how shameless are american government lolz ....
@Haris: Even the pakistan govt. agreed that Ajaml Kasab is from Faridkot in Pakistan. Please take off your blinkers.
There are so many people on this forum who glorify Hafiz Saeed. All I can say is that you people deserve leaders like him. So much pride in a person who basiclly propagates hate (im not saying he is guilty and the US is right in puting this bounty) but I wouldnt be proud of him if I was a Pakistani. Just like i detest Narendra Modi, Bal Thakrey and co. despite being an Indian.
Pakistan is a country that is definately heading in the right direction with the educated behaving and thinking in this manner. (sarcasm intended)
Before people jump on the problems in India. I agree with you people that India has made mistakes and those accountable must be punished. Its unfortunate that some people have been able to abuse the incompetence of the executive and judiciary.
Just a thought for Pakistanis. Why is it that the whole world has a different perception of the truth in most situations than Pakistanis. Either the whole world is wrong all the time or something is wrong in Pakistan. You figure out the answer to that question. No place is perfect but denial and chest thumping will only make things worse.
I honestly feel sorry for the guys who are celebrating this comment. I am no fan of american policy. But when the whole world says there is something wrong going on here....there is gotta be something. Perpetual denial and Utopian machismo doesn't help anyone.
I wonder if USA will now give Hafiz Saeed the $10 million bounty or not :)
@nationalist baloch: And why is not Pakistan government and authorities help US to capture this criminal?
@Democrat: Boss if you dont take the evidence seriously some one else will, and that is what has happened, By the way Pakistan even refused to take the dead bodies of these 9 terrorists, hen what more evidence do you need, and also There are few people in the custody of Pakistan government for Mumbai related charges then why do this drama why dont they let them off?
Just when one would think the US has hit its height of stupid action, there always seem to be even further non-sense from US - and US is great in proving that.
lol , i dont see american choppers landing in lahore casually and arresting him on gun point and then taking him to america or afghanistan !
@Atheist: @Ravish: I have watched the entire statement of the so called Ajmal Kasab while he was lying in the Hospital Bed. He didn't said he was trained in Pakistan and c'mon and don't be a fool, he hardly speaks Urdu and Punjabi and yet you are making a mockery that he came from village in Pakistani Punjab. lol!
Mockery at its best.
.... what a stupid move by US ... just proves how little they know about places beyond Manhattan ...
... that is why they earn a Defeat wherever they go ...
@Jean Michel: Take a chill pill. You've forgotten 1971, have you? Our policies will not be reassessed at your behest. Bye!
Hopefullyt this terrorist is captured and put for trial. US were able to find Bin-Laden, this should be a piece of cake. Even if it seems like some parts of Pakistan is trying to encourage terrorism by helping this evil people.
Hafiz Sahib - Well Done.
Thats the beauty with Pakistan. Terrorists roam free, Murderers are garlanded, but liberals are gunned down, good Human Beings are sent into hiding, freedom fighters are killed using Helicopter Gunships.
When Musharaff killed Bugti, he didn't allow Bugti to stand trial. This with the most popular leader in one of Pakistan's states. But, Hafiz Saeed needs "proof" to even stand trial. What a Country.
@Jean Michel: What fantasy world are you living in? Pakistan has not changed its stance in the past 20 years towards India. Has that had any effect on the Indian growth rate? No. We have had countless blasts not to mention the Mumbai Bombings and even Kargil in the same period for Christ's sake. But investor confidence over the period has only increased over the years. Infact even tourist arrivals (which although form a fraction of the Indian economy) are at an all time high. So please get out of your dream state, get your feet on the ground. Pakistan is too small an issue in front of the Indian econmic growth. I am frankly more worried about our corruption and red tape.
@Soapie: "As for how many terrorists have been captured and tried i think that hardly matters in this case. There have been hundreds of them who were killed in various operations…to circumvent this problem of complex judicial process and those who were of intelligence value became the missing persons. It is exactly what you did in occupied Kashmir. So enough lectures already."
Not lecturing. Simply stating facts. True in Jammu and Kashmir, jihadis pushed by Pakistan who are not Indian citizens DO in fact meet the fate you described. I think that is a good thing not bad. If Pak army/ISI deal with terrorists through encounters/missing persons due to courts being incapable of convicting terrorists, it proves my point instead of disproving it that lack of conviction is a sign of broken legal system NOT of innocence. Since Hafiz Saeed is an establishment asset, of course he has not been taken care of in an encounter. Again whether encounters/missing persons are an appropriate way to deal with terrorists in Pakistan is not for me to judge since I am an Indian citizen. That is between your army and your people. As an Indian, I am ware that occasionally such tactics are used by Indian law enforecement agencies also and I express my disagreement with such policies in appropriate forums within India as my citizenship entitles me to.Hafiz Saeed owned US, haha You can smell how there smell of something burning inside these indians.
US only did it to put pressure on us for blocking their supplies
There is most likely an indictment against Saeed in the US for conspiracy to commit murder of americans. So dont worry you will be in US courts soon
Osama, Hitler, Bin Qasim, Muhammad Ghori, Muhammad Ghazni, Timur-e-lang would all be declared innocent by Pakistani courts. Some of them may even be declared heroes (:
Forget PTI and Imran Khan! Time to vote for Difa-e-pakistan and elect Hafeez Saeed as president in the next election. He is qualified as much as imran. Hafeez Saeed is: 1. Honest. 2. As he has shown, he can stand up to amreeka even better than Imran Khan. 3. Just like Imran kahn he runs a 'charity' organization with JuD. In fact, his charity record is better than that of IK, as JuD has shown during the earth quake and flood. 4. We get extra bonuses such as green flag flying on delhi red fort. Also we will get brilliant military strategist like the great Zaid Hamid and Hamid Gul!!! It is a win win for all. Forget PTI. imran kant. Lets vote for JuD and Hafeez Saeed!!!!
can i claim the $10m then..
Hafiz sb gave press conference in return, "get me if u have courage" Hafiz sb Zindabad
Come on Hafiz sb...u rocks:)
@Atheist: While I appreciate your support, I truly believe in no censorship of any kind. So views even if biased are welcomed. One cannot address the problem if one doesnt know about it. So its best for everyone if mods kept their regualtion minimal.
@Ayesha Khan: It still doesn't justifies that he is a terrorist, Give some proofs of his involvement in 26/11 attacks and if you don't trust Pakistani Judiciary then why don't you take your proofs and bring him before the international courts of law ??
To all posters who say Hafiz Saeed is innocent because Pak Supreme court did not convict him, I have a few questions: 1) Have dozens of mosques been made shaheed in Pakistan bu suicide bombers? 2) Have hundreds of girls schools been blown up? 3) Have hundreds of Hazara Shias been killed after checking identity cards? 4) Have playgrounds and markets been bombed and hundreds of Pakistanis killed?
How many terrorists have been convicted? Before you spend a lot of time doing research let me give you the answer : ZERO.
If no terrorists have been convicted in Pak courts, it does not mean that no terror acts have been committed. It simply means that the Pak legal system is simply incapable of convicting any terrorist. So don't use lack of conviction in Supreme court as evidence of Saeed's innocence. Even acts of terror against Pakistan's own citizens go unpunished, so it is not surprising that killers of Indians are unpunished and even lionized by masses who have been indoctrinated with hatred against Indians.
Proud of you , Hafiz Saeed Sahab .
@Ravish: Second you on that! Cant believe nation's daily has so biased comments. Moderators I am assured are sleeping.
@question: It was damage on both the sides. And sentiments were hurt both the places! Stop taking one religion in such a biased way!
Very Well played. Non sense Americans.....
he should turn himself in and donate the $10 million to the cause that he is propogating.
There is something fundamentally wrong with the psyche of Pakistan when it glorifies and called them most respected leaders such as AQ khan, Hafiz Saeed, Osama, Zaveri, Mullah Omar, Dawood Ibrahim. When practically all terrorist attacks regardless of location in the world has some kind of connection to Pakistan. No wonder all international cricket teams, head of states, investors, NGO,s stay away from Pakistan. Pakistanis complain why world does not understands them and discriminates against them. If Pakistan wants to be a member of the global village it has to correct its thinking errors. While you may rejoice at his gimmicks, it just pushes Pakistan further into isolation. Nobody will win this game, but only Pakistan can lose.
I could never expect such a brilliant reply from some Mullah. Vow man, am a fan of yours now.
@Ravish:
Can't u even see that this guy is NO REAL THREAT to anyone. He wasn't involved in Mumbai attacks or anything.
You guys have Priest (padri's). We have Mullahs over here. These people preach religion, nothing else.
Really a stupid move by the US to say the least.
The proofs have been given to Pak govt long long long back. Kasab sits in Mumbai Jail. It is a known and accepted fact for the organizations and its deeds being headed by Hafiz. Pakistan govt is incompetent. And Pakistan is doomed as it has ever been.
Giving refuge to OBL was not right. The camps set up in Pakistan? Well there are a thousand things about this country that we should be ashamed of. And not support someone like Hafiz.
Nicely said Hafiz sahab. USA should concern her own business.
@monster...
how can the govt take it serious if you people take the evidence from a bollywood movie? who would believe you when you say the attackers came to mumbai trhu boats...the mighty indian navy was sleeping? you say the attackers had Pakistani T.shirts! is it believable? who were the other 9 attackers? why cannot we have their pics? and what happened to Hemant kurkure? did haifz saeed killed him? where is the educated and secular india? why dont they raise these questions? and due to insufficient proofs, any sane court in the world would set hafiz saeed free.. 8 lakh indian army in jammu and kashmir for what? to fight a few dozen terrorists? come on.. USA just tried to play it smart because they think of India as a market and not a nation that is why they will do these small gestures to secure some good contracts for their arms and other products...
People are mis-interpreting the US bounty. Here is the difference
In the case of Zawahiri and Omar, the announcement says :"Wanted Zawahiri" and "Wanted: Omar". That means the reward is for anyone who will help in locating them and assist in their capture or elimination.
In the case of Sayeed, the announcement says: "Wanted Information leading to the arrest and conviction of Hafiz Mohammad Saeed"
I am sure Mr Hafeez knows that, however this is a good opportunity for him to put on this drama and show of bravado, fully knowing the establishment is behind him.
@Soapie: "This made the pakistani government look incompetent, the indian government impotent and the american government mentally challenged."
Indian government did not declare the head money nor is Hafiz Saeed an Indian citizen. So I am not sure how it makes Indian government look impotent.
Secondly, the DoJ notice says 'information leading to conviction of Hafiz Saeed'. Obviously people involved in 26/11 should be able to give proofs but have been intimadated by Mr. Saeed. This reqard could make them reconsider and come forth with the information. SO the move is not as stupid as all the commentators are implying. It does not say $10 million for whoever provides information regarding his whereabouts (Which incidentally are well known to everyone).
Epic from Hafiz Saeed...You have explored the dumbness of India & U.S.A!!
@Tahir: "When he has been proved unguilty by Supreme Court of Pakistan then everybody should respect that including India and US."
Your laws of evidence are such that no terrorists get convicted. Your ISI also has the same complaint and provided the same explanation on the missing person issue. Apart from laws of evidence there is also the matter of intimidating/killing witnesses, intimidating judges presiding over terrorist cases. I am sure you remember what happened to the judge that convicted Qadri.
Hahahaha that was one lofted shot for 12 :D
Well again, people miss the point. He may or may not be a terrorist but US is violating international law by declaring a bounty on a Pakistani citizen who has never been convicted of any crime. I am liberal as they come and people who know me know my hatred of Muredke jalsas and Hafiz Saeed. But US has absolutely no right to put a price on his head. None. This is again trampling of national sovereignty. Can Pakistan, considering a US citizen anti Pakistan declare a bounty on his head? Its about fundamental rights and US doesn't get to do whatever she wants ignoring the law where it suits her. Every sensible Pakistani should protest against this blatant meddling.
The bounty is not on its head but on "information leading to his arrest and prosecution". So US has the bounty for those who provide evidense of his involvement in acts of terrorism. Pakistan government is not serious about prosecuting him. So it remains to be seen how can US prosecute him and where.
if you visit the website rewardforjustice.net, you will find almost all leaders mentioned there are either Muslims or in Muslim States..... isn't that shameful already? USA announce the bounty without trying him in the court, which is severe breach of Human Rights (where is Amnesty International), it is too embarrassing for Govt of Pakistan as they US even didn't consulted with them before having such a big move.
That's the way it ought to be... Love you Hafiz Sahab.
@Ravish: when more then 2000 muslims got killed in gujrat where were the educated indian government and people?
@ Ravish ...Hey man, Pakistan is not a failed state, this is the country of diplomats. They knew how to play a card n when. An Extra-ordinary people giving dare to Uncle sam. :)
The Americans have reached a tipping point in their stupidity. Ten millions of US dollars bounty on a person who's not even a minor threat to the national security of the United States.
@Ravish:
his actions are absolutely right. there is no proof yet of his involvement in mumbai attacks.
Like a boss
When he has been proved unguilty by Supreme Court of Pakistan then everybody should respect that including India and US.
Surprised that people are actually encouraging his actions. Where is the secular educated Pakistani?
ROFL this is epic. Bravo on this Mr Hafiz Saeed. you made USA look ridiculesly lame and dumb
though i don't support your Agenda
I dont understand why people get skeptical when I call Pakistan a failed state.
topi drama by US for india.
Now lets wait and watch while having pop-corns in ur hands..the movie have got twisted turn.. :)
Cool Dude :
USA has made him undisputed leader of religious and right wing parties. Bad news for Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan.
Oh, lord. A phadda! Time and date set! Sigh :/
What he said makes sense!
Yes E-block Johar town, and I should get $10K now :)
P.S. Yes, Bounty is absurd
haven't we had enough strikes here in Karachi already sir?
I think all you guys sit together (all political parties, transporters etc.) and make a schedule for your Strike/ Youm-e-Soag.
Can u pl give your mobile no and GPSS coordinates.
That's pretty embarrassing situation for US embassy in Pakistan, they should have explained to state department that this guy is a public figure and available in public!
Contact you or contract you. What Uncle Sam whats he gets!!!
