With his father, the President of Pakistan and co-chairman of PPP, Asif Ali Zardari watching, along with the PPP central executive committee, hundreds of thousands of loyal party workers which had gathered in Ghari Khuda Bux, and around the country, Bilawal exhorted, “the restoration of these judges by our Prime Minister was a truly historic milestone for our country. Now it is up to the courts to redeem their institutions sullied reputation in the eyes of history.”
“Was their brave stance evidence of the beginning of a new era in Pakistan where the judges of our courts will be remembered for dispensing justice, supporting democracy and refusing to do the bidding of our establishment?” he asked, before continuing, “or was their stance in 2007 just the exception that proves the rule, were our hopes raised for naught?” The taunt was neigh apparent.
Taking a dig at the Chief Justice of Pakistan himself, Bilawal continued “must we learn the hard way that once a PCO judge always a PCO judge? Time will tell.”
“The Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto reference case is a golden opportunity for the Supreme Court. I expect the Supreme Court to finally provide us justice. Justice in the eyes of history - the court must set the record straight,” the PPP chairman offered an olive branch to the justice.
The full text of his speech is below:
Bismillah-ir-rahman Rahim When we mourn Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, we mourn, more than justa great man, the first popularly elected Prime Minister and first ever Sindhi President and Prime Minister of Pakistan. We mourn the murder of democracy. We mourn the murder of justice. We mourn for our country. The Supreme Court of Pakistan sentenced Shaheed Bhutto to death by hanging for a crime he did not commit. This judicial murder was not the first nor the last flawed decision our courts have made. Unfortunately our courts have often stood on the wrong side of history. From the Doctrine of Necessity, to the judicial murder of Shaheed Bhutto and the continued legitimization of violations of our constitution our court shave not performed the role required of them by the constitution of Pakistan. In 2007, in the final months of the Dictatorship of the day, our courts gave us hope. The brave stance adopted by our judges and the support of the lawyers movement gave us hope that Pakistan would have a truly independent and impartial judiciary. The restoration of these judges by our Prime Minister was a truly historic milestone for our country. Now it is up to the courts to redeem their institutions sullied reputation in the eyes of history. Was their brave stance evidence of the beginning of a new era in Pakistan where the judges of our courts will be remembered for dispensing justice, supporting democracy and refusing to do the bidding of our establishment? Or was their stance in 2007 just the exception that proves the rule, were our hopes raised for naught? Must we learn the hard way that once a PCO judge always a PCO judge? Time will tell. I am confident that the PPP will finally get the justice we deserve in the eyes of history. I am confident the Supreme Court will deliver us this justice. I am confident the Supreme Court will not stand in the way. The Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto reference case is a golden opportunity for the Supreme Court. I expect the Supreme Court to finally provide us justice. Justice in the eyes of history - the court must set the record straight. Justice in the eyes of the law - the unholy judgment and the precedent set by it must be revoked. Justice in the eyes of the People, the PPP and Shaheed Bhutto's family - we expect the Supreme Court to apologise for the role it played in the judicial murder of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. The Supreme Court once told us Shaheed Bhutto was Guilty. The court of history is on our side and has proved his innocence. There have been some positive developments in the decisions taken by the court to right the wrongs of the past. These developments give me the confidence to believe that the Bhuttos of Larkana will also get the justice they deserve. The Sharifs of Lahore have had their trumped up charges squashed by the courts. I do not believe there will be double standards. I do not believe that Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto of Larkana is hanged but he does not get justice from these courts while the Sharifs of Lahore are vindicated. Similarly the Asgar Khan case has finally been taken up by the Supreme Court. Shaheed Benazir Bhutto fought for more than a decade for this case to be heard. It is a positive development that following Imran Khan of Lahore's demand the case has finally been heard. I have no doubt the forces that conspired against the PPP and Shaheed BB shall finally be exposed. Despite these positive developments there are also some worrying signs. More than 50% of terrorists presented before our courts have been freed. I am told there is a lack of evidence and the fault lies with the prosecution. The rapists of our sister Mukhtara Mai have been freed by the courts. Presumably for the same reasons. How can there be enough evidence to hang SZAB but not enough evidence to keep terrorists and rapists in prison. How can there be enough evidence to keep Benazir Bhutto Shaheed, President Zardari and Prime Minister Gillani in prison for so long without a conviction but rapists and terrorists are set free. How can there be enough evidence to attempt to try the grave of Shaheed Mohatarma Benazir Bhutto but rapists and terrorists are set free? I urge the courts to proceed with caution. I urge the courts to revisit their flawed decision in the Mukhtara Mai case. I urge the court to help keep our country safe by convicting terrorists for the atrocities they have committed. I urge the court to remember how they got where they are today. On May 12, 2007, 40 members of my party lost their lives supporting this Chief Justice and the cause of an independent judiciary. Is this what they deserve? When will we get justice? The courts are dangerously close to repeating the mistakes of the past. They should resist the temptation to obey the dictation of the establishment. We cannot allow the court to dig up my mothers grave and put her martyred corpse on trial. Mr. Prime Minister you will not violate Vienna convention, you will not violate the Constitution of Pakistan, you will not desecrate the graves of our martyrs. You may lose your office. You may lose your government but you must do what is right. There is not only the Supreme Court, there is also the court of the people and the court of history. The Supreme Court told us Shaheed Bhutto was guilty. They hanged Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto of Larkana, but the court of the people and thecourt of history was on our side and we have been vindicated. Just as Shaheed Bhutto was vindicated, you too shall be vindicated. They can threaten to send Yousaf Raza Gillani of Multan to prison but he is a follower of Bhutto Shaheed. We do not fear prison cells. We do not fear death cells. As Shaheed Bhutto said. We would rather die at the hands of a dictator than at the hands of history. Let us pray that cooler heads prevail. Let us pray that our Supreme Court will once again choose to stand on the right side of history. Let us pray that there will not be double standards. That Shaheed Bhutto of Sindh was hanged but another Prime Minister from Punjab is freed. That Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto fought in every court in this country and around the world to maintain her innocence. While a former Prime Minister from Punjab, a self confessing, convicted accused is vindicated, while Shaheed BB is put on trial from her grave. That a Prime Minister who ransacked the Supreme Court is given better treatment over our Seraiki speaking prime minister who obeys the constitution and presents himself before the court is stripped of his constitutional rights. I have faith in the Pakistan Peoples Party. I have faith in democracy. I have faith in Pakistan. I have faith in you Mr. Prime Minister. You will make Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto proud. We will get justice. If not now. If not by this court. We will be vindicated in the courts of history. The people have spoken. We are all agreed.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is absolutely right on his this stance because this is the most favorite and old habit of PPP to not to accept the decisions of Judiciary especially Supreme Court especially that decisions which are against the PPP's,Bhutto's family's members' and PPP's leaders own personal interests.
For how long will we mourn the death of ZAB. Don't we have anything else to do? Are all other problems solved?
Haha what a joke seriously this chap wants us to believe a word of what he says... come on first answer the people of this country about all the injustices done by your father and apologize for that then you are in the position to even give a speech in Larkana btw I dont think you are a Pakistani you must hold some British Passport or you must be US citizen ... go live in your country and leave us alone we dont want to be ruled by some spoiled kid like you .... you think you have any political authority or acumen ..drop out Bhutto and their reference from the name and no one even knows you exists. It is yet again another embarrassing attempt by PPP to gain public sympathy from some co chairman who is still not big enough to let go of his fathers hands. Where were you when they raised oil prices, or when we have unlimited load shedding ... oh you must be in your "home country" living a life of luxury while people get killed in Karachi you Bilawar Zardari of UK
We expect PPP to apologise for contempt of court, abuse of judiciary, unimaginable corruption, sectarian violence, inflation, unemployment, rising suicide rates, inability to curb terrorism, ever deteriorating law and order situation, Bhutto-worshipping practices undermining democracy, cronyism... : Pakistanis
These kids do not ever learn.Going and living all their life outside INDIA/PAKISTAN and when they have their fill as they can not make a honest living on their own, they invoke Dynasty name Bhutto/Nehru?Gandhi and shamelessly promote themself, they seem to have no shame but also common decency, they should be asked---HAVE YOU NO DECENCY BILAWAL? these guys want to Rewrite the History,Both Bhutto and Nehrus ruined the sub-continent,they do not even now want to give it a rest. What a bunch of losers,I think we are condemned for another round of 4th generation Bhutto(bilawal/Rahul) Gandhi there seems to be no escape, from this..He was ranting and raving until he ran out Shaeed Bhutto 105 times, what a sorry sap?Can not they hire a good speech writer, very sorry speech indeed.!
@Indian Kasmiri
LOL, dude I think there is something wrong with your state of mind.
60 year old Imran Khan should be worried now.
Non sense.
Great speach by BilawL Its not the Troll of fascists on web but the people of Pakistan will decide who their real leader is.
But first PPP should apologize and donate $10 billion to Pakistan and then go in exile till the end of times.
My Grandfather lost a land dispute case to one of his neighbours 40 years ago. Will the SC apologize for that decision or will PCO judges remain PCO judges?
Very unfair for people to be blasting Bilawal for the speech. I don't think he could have thought out this vitriol against the SC. Its the PPP high-ups who found the opportunity to further stir up the storm using an unsuspecting Bilawal who lives worlds away in Oxford. These lines were definitely written by a speech writer after instructions from people like Babar Awan or even the big Z himself. PPP have taken emotional blackmailing to new heights in a manner it is not effective anymore.
Poor boy!!! he just said what his dad told him to say!! look at his face as flat as his speech in typical british accent as he couldn't understand himself what he was saying. I wish one day he would be able to lead the party in a clear and true way by following the guidelines of shaheed bibi.
Bilawal there is an awful lot of proof of corruption by your father but unfortunately none of the courts are willing to take action. We have proof from all corners of the globe. Wherever Pakistan had state business and your parents were involved corruption and kick backs always followed.
.
Wow, I wonder which highly accomplished politician wrote that "speech" ( or should I say rant) for you Billawal? I can see that Oxford education hasn't gone to waste. I liked the dig at the chief justice. After all who is he to ask where 60 million dollars sitting in your father's accounts in Switzerland came from? It's obviously hard earned money from the sweat of his brow. I am surprised you kept the eulogy of the PPP to such a minimum, after all the entire country is benefiting from the fruits of the "democratically" elected government.
Answer me one question: Were we better off under Musharraf the dictator or the PPP? ( By we I mean the common man who lives in Pakistan and not the self exiled PPP elite suffering far from their motherland in Dubai. Oh how you Bhuttos have suffered)
Well, to be honest guys I think in the age where PTI is creating tides and PMLN is forced to re-iterate all that IK is saying, we are going towards a mature democracy. At-least we are in the right direction with Army on back-foot, relatively free judiciary and vibrant media and more aware youth. So this character of Balawal Zardari is going to be irrelevant from our main-stream politics soon. I think our children would not find him competing in elections - he might be playing soccer in Manchester though.
Bilalwal, you are patron of W Hotel Leicester square's sixth floor Spa... thats where you belong and next time you can launch your speech from Soho, all urdu-sindhi speaking will still hoot for you whether they understand any word or not !
Isn't this contempt of court?
future King of Pakistan has spoken....ridiculous as always!
He is right. The judicial must make the record straight!
PPP should apologize to the nation for creating Bangladesh. It was before Bhutto was hanged, if I remember correctly.
sc is nt a party or country, here every person is responsible for own act, this simple thing do nt understand this baby leader
Another contempt of court coming your way...
The only way history will ever remember PPP is by their blunders, and arrogance. The only time PPP were served good in some way was only 2 years back in seventies. But what we see now is complete destruction of poor people. Roti, Karpra aur Makan PPP will take away. Dont forget the election fruad by ZAB in 70's election, i remember his press conference where he admitted of election fruad, was that a democracy, that you voted 10000 more votes in ward where only registered voted were under 4000.
Cant imagine Bilawal has such guts to utter against CJP. If SC is involved in judicial killing, what about other killings done on name of ZAB, PPP and democracy. You can fool poor in Sindh but not every one, You are chav and by stating such speech you proved it.
Pakistan belongs to poor and those who sacrificed their lives in name of defending it. Pakistan belongs to those who learn in candle lights, Pakistan belongs to those who eat less in night and still sleep satisfactory. Pakistan belongs to those who in limited resources enjoy and remain cheerful despite pain and misery. These people are true gems of democracy and Pakistan who are being crushed by Waderra, chav like you.
Who's this man??? Oh Sorry, I forgot, he is our future leader (not) elected by Pakistani people.
What great words are these. Bravo to Bilawal and we are looking for you in the coming election. Long live Pakistan Peoples Party, Long live Pakistan.
long live PPP
more PEOPL will come out if called for by Bilawal than chief justice who in effect is doing establishments bidding New star is born ,bhutoo will always rule, remember you moaning Pakistanis
Hey Bilawal,
I think you may be missing your classes. Come on now, you must get that degree to be able to rule us!
You are not a Bhutto, never was and never will be. Just adding a fake name alongside Zardari is an insult to whatever crap your grandfather and your mother did for Pakistan. In short, just adding a Bhutto with Zardari has wasted all the efforts of the real Bhuttos.
Nevertheless, the word Bhutto has cost Pakistan it's life. Just leave us alone and keep the damn palaces and the money in the Swiss accounts, but PLEASE never come back. Never return to us. Please we beg you.
Who would say Sorry to the Nation on Bhutto's behalf for his decision to nationalize the industry which was a major blunder?? who would say sorry to the Supreme Court BILAWAL?? for your father's corruption not being brought to daylight because the PM is too excited to wave at the media while entering the Supreme court thinking of himself as one war hero which he is absolutely not, but he cant write a letter to the Swiss authorities
and We (Pakistanis) expect Bilawal bhutto to apologize for role his grandfather played in separation of east Pakistan.
He must ask PPP to apologizee for dividing the country into 2 parts. He must first find out the murderer of his mom and uncle. This will be some thing really helpful for the entire country. His dad and unlce - Rehman Malik claim to know the murderers. The country paid millions of dollars to UN on the useless investigation.
The govt ppl sitting in Grahikudabax and talking about court decision in 1979 . No light here no body care, nonsense
Uneducated Chap n Useless Chap . Who cares about him.Seriously
Since this story states that "hundreds of thousands of loyal party workers" gathered in Garhi Khuda Bux, I am curious to know how Bilawal communicated with the attendees. Did he deliver his foolish speech in English, Urdu, or Sindhi?
Even Judges accepted that they were forced to give verdict against ZAB. It was not an ordinary case, a PM was hanged in false case on the pressures of military over Judiciary. That is indeed a shame chapter of Pakistan History. We dont need to see every PPP news with the biased eyes. This demand has legitimacy and Judiciary should apologize for wrong doings.
Bilawal you must be joking. How can you expect the C.J.to apologise on behalf of the S.C.For reasons best known to the C.J.he has such a lot of venom against the P.P.P.including Z.A.B. and your mother. You will be lucky if the S.C.does pass some stricture against Z.A.B.in the refrence after all what can you expect from a PCO judge. How unfortunate Pakistan is 'bad politicians and worse judiciary".
And we expect you to just Grow Up ....Dont be so lame as your insesters and PPP people around you !! Are we expecting too much ??
One one hand PPP says they require JUSTICE and on the other hand They are refusing to PROVIDE JUSTICE. Contradiction?
nice comeback, kiddo. loved the part "once a PCO judge always a PCO judge"... BUT i still believe the judge in question is the lesser of two evils #if you get my drift
Ok Bilawal you might be able to run away but thank you for saying that.
Is the PCO SC going to book Bilawal for contempt with the hundreds of thousands supporting and cheering his speek? When and why would the SC find time from memo, contempt and other time wasting exercises and clean its name and ignominious history? Otherwise like Justice Munir and Nasim Shah they would be regretting in their last days and apologizing. The dubious tradition of sitting on imp cases for decades and jumping on frivolous cases must stop now.
Bilawal, I am sorry to say you are ba.... up the wrong tree. The county that your grandfather tried to run right, your Mom improved it more, but now your Dad has ruined it all. Your Grandfather's legacy of Roti, Kapra, Makaan has been reduced to the dirt that he is buried under. Bohat afsos hai is mulak Pakistan per aur is ke rehnay walon per to taras hi khaya ja sakta hai. Allah hi reham karay to kuch rahay ga is mulak ka.
he wants the court to apologize... grow up
Spot on...maybe the young Mr. Bilawal Z is not so dumb after all. I agree with him entirely. It is the responsibility of the SC to reject or reaffirm its decision on the ZAB case, and if it is the former, then it should apologize to set the record straight.
Mr Bilawal we Pakistanis expect your family and your party to apologize for the role they have played in the murder of Pakistan.
The whole nation is expecting its looted wealth by not just your corrupt father but other shaheeds of your family, The chances of getting that wealth back and apology from SC is same which is big fat nil
This is maater of shame for PPP workers and supporters to ask the present supreme court to apologize for the past deeds of others. How a corrupt person like Zardari can be a Presedent of a country with his all known dealings in bribery, money laundering and having millions of dollars in Swiss Bank account. It is the moral duty of every PPP workers and supporters to think above party lines for sake of Pakistan. If a person of any political party is criminal or law breaker he must be brought to justice, without caring for the party affiliation. This is the Only way to progress and build a Pakistani nation. Without it we will no not see that Pakistan will exist on the map in the present shape.
Speaking like a true politician! pathetic! zulfiqar is dead. dont kill the nation for the sake of a useless case.
The people of Pakistan expect you to apologize for all the corruption your party has been doing over the past 4 years.
19 karoor awam expect apology and forever leave corrupt and family politics drama.
When Salman Taseer was disgracefully killed Bilawal said some bold and appreciable words at the time which were quickly down-played. Now he has come out with this. Popping up to make provocative statements and then going back to doing what-ever he does, just does not sit right.
As the elections are near, emotional blackmailing season starts in Pakistan. Begging votes in the name of shahadat and emotional blackmailing tactics will not work this time I guess. People of Pakistan are determined to chose a new political party by rejecting all the existing ruling parties.
We expect your DAD should quit now, as we can't bring your NANU back but save a lot of Pakistani's who dying of hunger.
No offense to PPP lovers...but after BB, this party is becoming a train wreck. From Zardari to PM Gilani to the new kid on the block, all are more interested in enacting drama than doing anything valuable for the country.
Ok......but PPP should also apologize for the 2nd Amendment, FSF crimes and the Baloch massacres of the 1970's..
huh!yeah RIGHT ..and your father should apologise for stealing trillions from Pakistan.
I can clearly see cracks in Egg Shell ;)
Why apologize? Ask Allah for an apology then.... you will get your answer.
Did Bilawal learn Urdu?
Hmmm so Bilawal is saying Bhutto did not kill 300/400 people during the PNA movement? All the stalwarts of democracy such as Nasurallah Khan, Asghar khan, Wali han wanted Bhutto to be punished for his deeds...
Lol .. you're funny dude!
A sentimental speech delivered by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
And rightfully so. The Supreme Court does need to apologize to the Pakistani people about when the Justices willingly participated in the carrying out of gross injustice by particpating in the murder of ZAB.
Who's that?
One really likes the way people rant about DEMOCRACY in these parts.
