FAISALABAD: A judicial magistrate on Tuesday released on bail a bridegroom and his four relatives arrested on the charge of possessing illegal weapons and obstructing police in the performance of their duty. Samiullah and his four relatives were arrested on late on Saturday night from a mehndi in Maqsoodabad in the Samanabad area. The bridegroom and his four relatives spent Sunday in jail after the arrest. As a result, the wedding had to be postponed. Noor Ahmad, a relative of Samiullah, alleged that the police had made the arrests without justification. He said, “Police inefficiencies have meant the families had to postpone the marriage ceremony. Police officials must take action against the police officers responsible.” They were produced before the judicial magistrate who sent them to jail.
