ISLAMABAD:

The National University of Modern Languages (NUML) administration has announced the closure of the university on Wednesday and postponement of midterm exams due to protests by the PML-N.

The university administration announced the cancellation of papers and informed students to stay at home to avoid problems for students in getting to the university.

Interestingly, NUML is the only university in the city which has given students and staff the day off.

A NUML professor said he is “surprised why the administration cancelled the papers, as the protest would start around noon, whereas students could get to campus earlier in the morning”.

NUML Spokesperson Amir Saleem said that the papers were postponed because it might be difficult for the students to come from Rawalpindi. “Most of our students come from Rawalpindi and it will difficult for them to reach the university to sit their exams,” he maintained. He said that papers scheduled for Wednesday would be rescheduled.
