LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday restrained Chaudhry Muhammad Asghar Paswal and Muhammad Anwer Javed from functioning as judicial members of the Appellate Tribunal of Inland Revenue. The court issued the order on a civil miscellaneous application moved by Advocate Chaudhry Anwaarul Haq into his pending main petition against the appointment of respondent members. The petitioner contended that he had applied for the said post but was ignored despite having the required qualification whereas the respondents appointed in August 2010 on the recommendation of the then federal law minister Babar Awan and former law secretary Masood Chishti did not qualify for the job. Justice Umar Ata Bandial barred the respondents from working and sought their replies by June 7.
