The bag is said to be better than the usual round, square or triangular bags, the Daily Express reported.
Experts at the Yorkshire Tea company in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, say the T-shape helps the tea bag stay upright in the cup and allows the water to infuse through and around it to give a better brew.
The idea of a T-shaped bag was first though of by a Hungarian named Parl Folio. He could not see his plan come to fruition as he died in 1994.
The company's food technologist Clare Walker, who worked on the design, said: "The long straight mid section delivers the most even infusion possible from the very centre of the cup, while the top bar of the T helps the bag to stay upright and central throughout the brewing process. It is literally the perfect cup of tea."
