Teaching peace: Karachi High School principal wins UN award for work
In particular, Kassim’s work as the chairperson of the International Schools Educational Olympiad (ISEO) was commended.
The two-day conference gathered teachers, administrators, future leaders and non-governmental organisations from across the world to acknowledge leadership in education. It served to highlight the role of educationists from Karachi, Chennai, Burnaby, Mexico City, Manila, and the US, whilst highlighting inspiring initiatives world-wide towards promoting and teaching peace within classrooms.
Kassim was nominated for her contribution over the last two decades towards bridging distances, and gathering students from Pakistan and across the world, including youth from India, the UK and Australia on a single platform to boost shared learning, competition and healthy interaction through the yearly ISEO. The award acknowledges her commitment to promote innovation in education in Pakistan by extending learning across borders and beyond the realms of the classroom.
Kassim was also acknowledged for Karachi High School’s active partnership with the British Council’s Connecting Classroom initiative aimed at forging lasting partnerships among schools in the UK with others around the world.

Asslam o Allaikum, it is quite gud that we r hearing gud news abt PAK. May ALLAH guide her. Why some of u r objectioning madrassas? When muslims were on edge there were madrassas where scientific n religious both educations were compulsory... With the invasion of subcontinen this was al stoped immediately... Ane these our english men start to make diff madrasas which were only teaching religion,and they make uni etc for worldly education. They themself make 1st madrasas. The only objection i hav with madrasas is to review their course bcoz they shld have to go with wat there fathers were going. Plz try to understand westerners mentality "divide n rule" . And i m also surprised with "inferiorty complex of ppls of subcontinent"
Both educations r necessary for us even as muslims but our society hav been divided

I was really proud to be a student of Karachi High Scool. Mrs Kassim has created an image for her students and I from my bottom of the heart pray for her long life.
I have been in Karachi high school graduated back in 2005, to be honest with you all Mrs.Qasim has truly treated every student like a mother... her efforts her hardwork has truly paid offf... award or no award she has earned respect in the heartf of every student of KHS,,, and im proud of calling the best principal i have ever seen in life.

Great Job mashaAllah. It is really a joy to see women excelling in every walk of life in Pakistan. Keeping in mind the restrictions, society, male dominance etc etc it is really a tough ask but still the succeed. Hats off to our mothers and sisters.

Why do some of you hate the madrassas so much? I myself am from The City School, but you should know that we need madrassas for the needs that conventional schools cannot accomplish. If you do not want to get Islamic education, fine. Just dont hate on others, cos they are still loyal to the faith.

Educationists like Parveen Kassim, can do a lot to promote thinking: "about peace" in Pakistan. We are proud to have her in Karachi working as a principal in one of the best schools of Pakistan. I pray for her longer life and best health. I also appreciate the work of UN in Pakistan for promoting "Teaching Peace" in Pakistan..
This is exactly what Pakistan needs rather than the madarsas. Kudos to the few who are still doing their best for the nation.
