Reforming the governance structure

Letter March 31, 2012
I believe that the root cause of Pakistan’s problems is its outdated governance structure.

TEXAS, US: This is with reference to Rasul Bakhsh Rais’ article “Class and politics” (March 27). I believe that the root cause of Pakistan’s problems is its outdated governance structure. Pakistan can improve its economy, the law and order situation and the justice system by severing its ties with this colonial governance structure and reforming those institutions that are used by the state to govern the country. A good example is of Georgia, the former Soviet state, which reformed its police system and as a result was able to reduce corruption drastically.
