Actor Arjun Rampal says he would be happy if director Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine or Sudhir Mishra’s Inkaar are showcased at the forthcoming Cannes Film Festival, reports IANS
“I would love to take Heroine there. That is a film that deserves to be at Cannes,” said the actor. In fact, Bhandarkar’s Heroine was announced with Aishwarya Rai at the Cannes last year. But later, due to the Rai-Bachchan pregnancy, the director had to replace her with Kareena Kapoor.
Heroine, co-written and directed by Bhandarkar, revolves around the life of a once successful film actor Mahi Arora, whose career is on the decline.
Though speculated to be based on the lives of yester year divas like Madhubala and Marilyn Monroe, Bhandarkar has denied the reports saying that the movie is a “contemporary film which reveals the reality of the movie industry and its well-kept secrets,” reports zeenews.india.com. Bhandarkar said that he considers the movie his magnum opus. The film is slated to release on 14 September, 2012.
Meanwhile, speaking about his other film, Rampal added, “There is a Sudhir Mishra film as well that I have just finished, which is also perfect for Cannes. So yeah, if I can showcase that, it would be great,” the 39-year-old said.
The actor is expected to make an appearance at this year’s Cannes Festival, which begins May 16. While Heroine stars Kapoor in the title role, Inkaar has Chitrangada Singh opposite Rampal.
In the pipeline
The actor, who has just wrapped up the shooting for Heroine, is now set to start work on Prakash Jha’s Chakravyuha soon. Chakravyuha stars Abhay Deol and Manoj Bajpai in lead roles. The film’s shooting will begin on April 7, and it will be mainly carried out in Madhya Pradesh.
The role requires Rampal to fine tune his Hindi before starting the film. The script has been written by Jha, Rajabali and Sagar Pandya while the music will be provided by Salim-Sulaiman.
