
One in three students that appeared for the grade 5 centralised annual exams conducted by the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) failed.
A results notification issued by the FDE on Thursday said that 18,352 candidates from both federal and private institutions appeared in the fifth grade examination; of these, 11,977 passed the exam for a pass percentage of 65.26. Students from the Islamabad Model Colleges had a much better result, with 3,096 of the 3,145 candidates succeeding for a pass percentage of 98.04. The board also announced results for grade 8, where 1,312 of the 1,645 that appeared in the exams succeeded for a pass percentage of 89.18.
