Senate elections: PHC dismisses petition challenging polls

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday dismissed a writ petition challenging the recent Senate elections. The petitioner has been asked to approach either the Election Commission of Pakistan or the Supreme Court. Hussain Khan Afridi, who could not contest the Senate election after his nomination papers were rejected by the provincial election commission for failing to identify names of his proposer and seconder, had moved the petition in the PHC. Hussain said both his proposer and seconder refused to sign his nomination papers after he did not fulfill their demand to pay them. Afridi told The Express Tribune that he would not give up and would approach the Supreme Court for justice.
