The ban came following a resolution which was adopted by the Sindh Assembly in May last year.
The lawmakers of the assembly were of the view that Shisha was the worst form of intoxication and youngsters, mostly living in posh areas, were using it at cafes and restaurants.
Even after the passage of the resolution, no action was taken against the people running the business.

banded only in north gulshan johar and mohammad ali not in DHA or Clifton q k wanha kisi ka baas nahi chalta na
most stupid ban since nawaz banned junoon over lyrical contents of their songs. On a second thought it may not be stupid at all. Im sure the cigarette companies are paying the lawmakers good moolah over this ban. According to an estimate cigarettes sales in the urban cities were going down like anything hence the whole pta backed over the top sheesha is much dangerous than cigarettes campaign and subsequently this ban. Get ready the youth is about to turn to cigarettes, and what not to spare their time.
I just had it :p
Its good that Shisha has been banned; its another form of slow poison. Having said that, its not the only problem; so more steps need to be taken. And of course, these steps need to be implemented.
Safety in our city, minimal. Corruption and height of being stupid and pointless, MAXIMUM! If they want to ban shisha why not ban liquor and other types of intoxications people go for? This will only work for a week or so in my opinion. Everyone can be bribed these days.
Appluase! Despite I'm regular smoker of Sheesha but I second the decision. It has been ruining teenagers who take twice or even thrice a week.
Why is it banned for 2 months? Will it become healthier after 2 months?
Shisha is Awesome.
Haters are going to hate.
please ban mobile snatching and acid throwing too?
Sheesha might not be a greater evil, but at-least government is doing something right. But unless we get everything else fixed load shedding, terrorism, drug trafficking, etc etc(which probably won't happen for a long time),the government, damned if it does, damned if it doesn't.
Smoking should be banned which is far more dangerous.
"An idle mind is the Devils workshop." Its better to smoke Shisha with friends in a cafe thn sitting idle.
Its the cheapest tafree as in time pass thing that youngsters can do...
What a bunch of losers these policy makers are.
In a place like Pakistan, where people dont have food to eat, shelter, safety of person and property, where parts of the country are threatening to separate the legislative assembly is debating the use of Shisha by teenagers in Posh neighborhood!!
Tells you a whole lot about how much they care about their constituents.
If any policy maker reads this comment, YOU BETTER BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF!!
Ban Ban Ban, I think Ban is not the solution of any problem,
There's separatist movement in Baluchistan, unrest in K-P, floods in Sindh, and our internet is restricted, there's a ban on shisha, and a ban on musical concerts was to be passed in Punjab. Really, what is this so-called "progressive, secular, democratic" government good for? Only diverting attention towards non-issues? The only thing "progressive" happening in this country right now is that it's getting progressively more hopeless every day.
Another way for law enforcement to earn commissions :)
Occasionally there's good news from the homeland.
Ban joy whilst you are at it and ban the individual's right to make his own decisions. How ridiculous.
age restrictions and tax it! Same with alcohol! When we have enough money to pay for our infrastructure then we can sit and discuss the finer points of legislating morality.
People are already frustrated by 15+ hours of load shedding. Bans like this will make people come to the streets.
(Facepalm)
It is interesting to note that law makers all over Pakistan keep passing one or other ban against Shisha, concerts, or questionable web browsing; all of this is in one or other form targeted at youngsters only while youngsters make up more than 60% of the population...and on the other hand, most of the people involved in violence are also youngsters...is that just a co-incidence? or outcome of stupid policy decision making in the upper echelons of political leadership
It's a decision taken in a country where people are already dieing of unemployment and it's a new gift from governament to shut the businesses and make 1000 of workers unemployed ...if you governament is so much concern about these issues so why don't they ban cigrets and wine shops ..
These places are open and clean for entertainment where people go and relax .. If they close these places then people divert to other drugs ... It will not stop the Shisha smokers intact this decision take them to another level of hidden drugs .
the only thing that can make this country bearable is legalisation of alcohol, sheesha, clubs, drugs such as hashish and cocaine and international prostitution that can all be taxed and made part of the white economy to help the government grow revenues and help the people stay calm, becomes less frustrated and happy.
whats the use of a two month ban?
Once again a poor effort by the government to diffuse attention away from core issues and come up with lame bans to target small businesses. It is foolish to expect this ban to last. If the real reason was its harmful qualities, then by all means please ban cigarettes too. There is a disadvantage of having a dumb establishment. :/
Stupidity has no limits. Do important things man. Give us safety and law and order. Catch thieves man thieves and armed dacoits. Catch people running around with pistols on mobikes and terrorising people. What is this childish things you are indulging in. Stop it but it is not on priority. Life and property is on priority. Protect it in cities and outskirts. I can't even go to Kirthar Park, God knows what will happen. Can't go to Baluchistan, God knows what will happen. Make our areas livable. That is more important.
The Provincial Government cannot eradicate the menace of banning drugs how come it will get a positive response after banning Shisha and that too only for two months.
Earlier the Provincial Interior Minister banned Gutka but still it is available in the open market every where and the Gutka sellers are selling it under the protection of Police.
The orders passed for banning Shisha is that Police is going to earn more money from the Shisha sellers and providers.
I don't understand as why such orders are passed when it has no affect on it?
SERIOUSLY!!
What about the street crimes ..........whole province is suffering.
Hahahahahahahahaha NO! -_-
Finally a sensible move . It should be banned all over Pakistan due to its immense hazards. However I doubt it will be implemented.
Excellent decision!
Shisha banned..... now will liquor be allowed ??
Not fair. why just sheesha??? y not hookah cigarettes??
Good efforts,
Only for two months???????????????
So finally they came to know the side effects of this body disaster
