Woman and her husband said the suspect was employed as a personal assistant to an influential landlord.

BAHALWALPUR:

Khairpur Taamaywali police have registered a kidnap and sexual assault case against a man on complaint of a visually-impaired woman on Sunday.

The FIR registered in the matter stated that 35-year-old Khanim Bibi* was kidnapped on her way home in Ahmedpur village and raped on Saturday allegedly by Muhammad Ameer. The suspect later abandoned her in the premises of a factory in the outskirts of the village.

Khanum’s medical examination was carried out at Khairpur Taamaywali tehsil headquarters (THQ) hospital on Sunday. SHO Malik Iqbal said the report would be available in a couple of days.

Talking to The Express Tribune, the woman and her husband said the suspect was employed as a personal assistant to an influential landlord. They feared he would use his employer’s influence to avoid prosecution and appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to ensure that action was taken against the suspect in accordance with the law. *Names have been changed to protect identity of the victim
