Pakistan unhappy over Bangladesh Cup appeal
Bangladesh Saturday said it would appeal to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to review the last over, accusing Pakistani paceman Aizaz Cheema of deliberately blocking batsman Mahmudullah Riyad from taking a second run.
Pakistan beat Bangladesh in a thrilling final on Thursday by two runs to lift the four-nation Asia Cup.
PCB Director Intikhab Alam called Bangladesh's stance “disappointing”.
“It's really sad and disappointing to hear the statement from Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official,” Alam told AFP.
“It was a thrilling final and everyone praised Bangladesh for their fight and their decision to appeal is just an afterthought after the result.”
“The fact of the matter is that no match umpire of referee complained about this to Pakistan management and Bangladesh's complain will spoil a wonderful final which everyone enjoyed,” said Alam.
BCB said it would seek five penalty runs for deliberate obstruction and a reversal of the result in their favour.
“We have seen video footage of the incident repeatedly. It is clear that Cheema blocked Riyad deliberately,” Enayet Hossain Siraj, chairman of the BCB operations committee, told reporters.
“We will lodge a written appeal to the ACC very soon and will also give a copy to the International Cricket Council.”
Bangladesh is currently considering an invitation to tour Pakistan for a limited over series next month.
They sent a delegation to assess security arrangements in Pakistan for the tour but said a final decision will only be made by the country’s government.
Should Bangladesh go they will be the first Test playing nation to tour Pakistan since terrorist attacks on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore three years ago.
The attacks, which left eight people dead and seven visiting players and an assistant coach wounded, suspended all international cricket in Pakistan as teams refused to tour the troubled country because of security fears.

You people thought that BCB's appeal was to get the Cup back...Bur it was totally wrong thought.If our intention is to get cup back then we would appeal it as fast as possible..Not 3 days later. The intention of BCB is only to alarm Icc and Acc so that further this can't be happen with us. In 2003 in test match Pakistani player Rashid latif was tried to cheat with Bangladesh by apeal a drpped catch..And exactly like the same way ampire support them and give them out. Later he was suspended foe six match and also confess his fault. This happend with us not only one time...They consider us as a small team yet..And always do wrong descion with us..In the Asia cup of Finnal Our player Mahmud Ullah even appeal to Ampire to block him by cheema while getting second run...But it was umpire who didn't take any descion...According to the law is any bowler obstacle any batsman...Its Umpire should take descion to give five penalty run and announced that ball as no ball...But that time Umpire remain quite.. Can i ask what it was happed only with us..?? Coz we are small team..not as well recognized as India, Pakistan. If we remain quite that this type of injustice will happed with us again and again. hey well there is no need to fight regarding this matter cricket is the game of chances and mistakes.... some time the mention mistakes done by the players intentionally and some time unintentionally... and why BDB forget that in the world cup of 99 Pakistan lose the game intentionally for them as for sake that they will have the test cap... well i was reviewing through all coments and i found that some buddy up told that Pakistanis killed the 3 millions people of Bangladesh... man what do u think that bangalis were innocent at that time... what do you say about those refuges whom bangladesh had never accept as their brothers it was Pakistan who make them permitted to live here.... dont forget the history man.... i also review the comments regarding Pakistanis that they are not trust worthy bla bla bla.... man can any buddy told me what Pakistan had done with you indians... we always found india in harshing mode Pakistan always make an friendly attempt for indians but i now very well what india done with Pakistani's... well its a political issue dont be places it here in game talk.... I am an Indian and from an neutral point of view I can say that if Cheema is guilty of blocking Bangladeshi Batsman, then the incident of Mortaza blocking Afridi should be scrutinized as well. I clearly remember that once Afridi completed the first run, Mortaza came forward and stood in the same track through which Afridi would have returned for the second run. Mortaza did not try to rush to the stump to collect the ball from a throw but rather lazily walked to Afridi's return track very knowingly making an innocent face.
Now the thing is all cricketers are human and sometimes at the heat of the moment they may do something in the field which may not be the ideal thing to do, but if you become too cycnical with all such moves then game will get ruined. What rather needs to be seen is that whether a player is committing a mistake again and again, that too deliberately and based on that he should be warned or punished.
Second-guessing umpires and referees is routine in sporting events all over world, specially when the outcome is very close as it happened in the cricket match between Bangladesh and Pakistan in the Asia Cup.
The loss was very upsetting to Bangladesh and they are obviously trying to find solace by appealing to the ICC for an incident. Every sports fan knows It is very unlikely that the ICC will overturn the result even if the appeal is genuine. Reason: The match is over!
The overwhelming negative comments on part of Pakistanis demonstrates the mean and petty nature of the Pakistani people that is destroying the fabric of Pakistani society. No wonder there are separatist movements in Balochistan, Sindh, and Khyber-Pakhtunwai.

If the Pakistanis are capable of brotherly love, they should say this to people of Bangladesh: You want the trophy for the 2012 Asia Cup, take it. And hey, by the way, you can have the trophy for the Asia Cup that Pakistan won in 2000.

Oh for gods sake, let us not get in to stupid political arguments, the Pakistanis won the match. No appeal or umpiring was requested at the time.By appealing all the BCC are doing is that the wider ICC are going to see it as The South Asians bickering amongst themselves. Walk away, you played a good game, lost , so what , look at the admiration you have gained.

How can people's thoughts span such extremes in two days? One day the Bangladeshis are valiant fighters, and the next they become sore losers? Bangladesh is learning the ropes, they will make mistakes. Give them some room. Everyone knows this appeal is going nowhere. Why this complete change of stance? This is a very small reason for people to change their opinion of Bangladesh cricket as a whole, forget about the Bangladeshi people at large.

I have seen the video for more than 5 times.When Riyad collided with Cheema he was standing in the crease at bowling end and there was no possibility of second run. Have a heart BDB.
One of the bengali bowlers also obstructed Afridi so PCB can also ask for 5 penalty runs and hence the match result will remain the same.
Disgusted! I now think we shouldn't be begging Bangladesh to visit Pakistan anyways! If they wanted to come and play a test series etc then it would have been good for their own team. They could have learned something in test cricket by playing a good test team like Pakistan who have recently washed away the number one test side in the world. I also think this doesn't have much to do with the Bangladeshi players and its a decision by the stupid management or an after thought by some other political force.

It is not so long ago that Pakistani netizens praised their Bangla brothers got knocking India out of Asia cup. Now it is India's (ACC) turn to play big brother role to pacify both brothers.

The objection raised is equivalent to challenging the integrity of the Umpires.
Even in the case, if Riyad would have taken the second run, Bangladeshi Cricket Team would have lost the match by one (1) run, as they require two (2) runs to win the Asia Cup Cricket Match.
This is nothing but a second thought.
What these boys are discussing is that when they can beat Srilankan and Indian Cricket Team they would have also defeated Pakistani Cricket Team and would have won the final match?

Bangladesh are not the tigers. I thought they will accept the defeat. Seems as if this is the only final they ever played as they are not sure of reaching in the finals of any big tournament. Remember the team sri lanka and their attitude right since the begining until they evolved itself into a big team.
